Saxon of the month - August

Congratulations Emma Minter who is Saxon of the Month for August!! Emma joined the club from this year’s beginners course and has improved week on week. Emma’s improvement has been down the her determination and positive attitude as she has attended every Tuesday and Thursday club session since week 1 of the beginners course back in May. As well as this, Emma has knocked a massive 12 minutes off her Parkrun time since joining the club.
Keep up the great work Emma 👏
Also, special mentions to Alfie and Sam B who came 3rd and to Trina who was 2nd!!

Tune into BBC Look East from 6.30pm tonight to see The Saxons in action! 📺

A news crew came to Saxmundham as we prepare for our annual 5 mile race on October 4th which this year includes extra prize categories to accommodate the big increase in the proportion of runners over 50. Half of our own members are aged 50 and over and we couldn't be prouder! 🤩

📢Calling all Junior Runners - save the date for The Saxons Junior Fun Run! 🏃‍♀️🏃

🗓10:15 am start on Sunday 4th October 2026
📍Carlton Park Recreational Club, Saxmundham IP17 1AT

Simply turn up on the day to register with £3 entry (cash only) per child and run around the sports field at the home of the Saxmundham Running & Fitness Club.

🤩Children aged 8 and under one lap of the field (approx 1km)
🤩Children aged 9 to 14 two laps of the field (approx 2km)

🎖The run will be manually timed and a medal handed to all finishers!
The junior fun run kicks off the main adult 5 mile race at 11 am.

Saxon of the Month - July

Congratulations Will Ridgard who is Saxon of the month for July! Since joining the club almost a year ago, Will has improved massively across all distances. Will had great debuts for the cross country’s and Friday 5 series and achieved his main goal of a sub 20 min 5k at the Ekiden relays in July.
Well done Rigga, thoroughly deserved 👏

We had 5 Saxon Teams take on the Ekiden Relay yesterday (Marathon distance split between a team of 6). Our club record was smashed by 4 mins and a top 10 finish for our speedy men’s team! Also all 5 teams finished under 4 hours. A fantastic team effort from everyone 👏
