Ahead of our senior awards night on Friday 25th September, we are looking for a sponsor of an annual trophy for the Second Team Players Player of the Year. The Second Team has a lot of younger players in the team, making their way in adult cricket, and it would be great to recognise achievements as we continue to grow as a club.

Reminder.... Alongside the Alconbury Weald Heritage Day this Saturday (12th Sept), the Sawtry Cricket Club will be running a “Taster” for women interested in playing fun, softball cricket. A free session with a female coach, 11:30 start with tea and cake to follow. All welcome, no experience required.

Here is a throwback to the game a few weeks back where two of our under 15 players rescued the team from being 10-4 off 3.3 overs to put on a partnership of over 100!

Both Ben and Jack scored fifties to help the team to a great Sunday team win away at Ufford Park.

It is not just our Saturday First Team that have had success this season.

Our talented Under 15s made it to the regional final, hosted at Upwood CC against Godmanchester last Sunday.

Unfortunately, the team lost the final, but the club made the regional final for the second time in 3 years, which shows the potential we have in the club, as well as how committed the coaches have been to offering high quality coaching to our players for a long time. Thank you to the Head Coach, Neil Suckling, for all of your efforts with the team!

LADIES - This one is for you!

Following on from the great success of our recent Girls only Dynamos cricket sessions, we have decided to host our very first Women’s Softball Taster session.

We are delighted to be welcoming our Dynamos coach, Abbie, along for the session, and we would love to welcome anyone interested in taking part and perhaps trying cricket for the first time.

No experience is necessary to attend, but obviously everyone is welcome to come along. Just turn up on the day!

Cricket will start at half 11 using a soft ball, where there will be some fun cricket activities taking place. Once the cricket has taken place, we will be offering a cream tea to participants so everyone can socialise and potentially make some new friends.

The session will be over by about 1.30, but with the Alconbury Weald Heritage day taking place, there will still be plenty to do around the ground afterwards too!

So why not come along and give cricket a go? 🏏

CHAMPIONS!!

Congratulations to our Saturday First Team, who secured the Hunts League Division 2 title in style, with a rampant 8 wicket victory away against Houghton & Wyton!

With the help of 5 wickets from Bhumin Kamdar, we restricted them to 191-7 off their 45 overs. Chasing 192, solid contributions from Vineet Gangwar (48), Jack Scarff (44*) and Bhumin Kamdar (65*) secured the win with 15.1 overs to spare!

All of the 22 players who have represented the team this season deserve huge credit for playing their part in a special achievement for the club.

Taking a look at the league table, our Saturday 1st team require 9 points more than nassingtoncricket today to secure the league title, without taking any Officials Bonus Points into consideration.

The league has been hotly contested this season between the 2 teams and are worthy promotion winners this season. Both teams have only lost 3 games this season and would be level on points if it had not been for the bonus points on offer for umpires!

Regardless of who wins the league today, well done to both teams for their fantastic seasons!

So here we are - the final Saturday team Games of the season!

The first team travel to Houghton & Wyton today after the bonus points they need to win the league, having already secured promotion last week after last weeks wash out.

The second team finish the season at home to ortonparkcc 3s, where a win will secure a mid table finish.

Go well lads! Fingers crossed for Two wins and a league title to celebrate tonight!
