Hi All

The Four Nations Billiards Championship, featuring England, Northern Ireland, Ireland, and Austria, takes place this weekend in Ireland. Our very own Martin Gawthrop is representing England in the competition. It is a huge honour for Martin and I am sure you will all join me in wishing him well.

The club is hosting our first Club Night of the season on Wednesday, 22nd October, from 7:30 pm. Just turn up and play. It is a flat £5 fee to play snooker for the evening with the tables on free play. A couple of experienced players will be on hand if you come alone or need a couple of tips on cueing. We hope to see you there.

In addition, we will also be holding our first Handicapped competition of the season on Saturday, 25th October. This will be a daytime competition with the exact format and start time to be confirmed once we have an idea of entries. It is £10 to enter. Please transfer to Sawston Church Institute 30 91 74, 01233707 to guarantee your spot.

I know some of you are good snooker players but we also have several members that are new to the game. As such, Dale French will run a coaching session in the Club on 29th June starting at 10:30 am. This will be to deal with the basics of addressing the ball, stance, sighting and hitting the ball. All are welcome. There will be a small charge to cover the cost of the lights. Dale is DBS checked should you wish to bring any youngsters along.

The competition today was well received. Well done to Dave Duce for beating Phil Donaldson in the Final. A big up to Kelvin Lee for winning the Plate.

Hi All

We have decided to set a date for a Sawston Church Institute Snooker competition. It will be a one day event on Saturday 20th April (opening day of the World Championships) starting at 11am. It will be a handicapped competition and best of 3 frames. The handicaps will be decided at a later date and will be subject to amendment on the day as we are not familiar with the standard of everyone. The competition will be for a maximum of 16 players and we will do the draw in advance with two start times. The entry fee is £10 with the tables on free play. The entry money will be split equally between the cost of the lights and prize money.
