SAWBRIDGEWORTH TOWN — WEEKEND FOOTBALL ROUND-UP
Another busy weekend of football across Sawbridgeworth Town, with teams from our juniors through to the U18s getting back out on the pitch.
There were wins, draws, tough results and plenty of lessons learned, but most importantly, lots of effort, teamwork and players enjoying their football.
U10 Robins
Not the result the boys were looking for, but there were plenty of positives to take from the game. It was fairly even for long periods and the boys created chances, including a goal that was ruled out and a few opportunities that just wouldn’t go in!
Sometimes that’s football. The boys kept going and will be looking to bounce back next week.
U10 Reds
What a performance from the Reds! After a fantastic training session during the week, the boys brought what they had learned into the game and showed great teamwork, effort and determination.
A special mention to goalkeeper Walter, who not only made some great saves but also got himself on the scoresheet!
A fantastic team effort and a performance to be proud of.
U11s
A frustrating result, but the boys showed fantastic character and never gave up. They created plenty of chances, hit the woodwork and pushed right until the final whistle.
The whole team shared Player of the Match for their incredible effort.
U12s
A brilliant comeback from the boys! After a difficult first half, they came out fighting and produced a huge second-half performance to get themselves back into the game.
Plenty of chances created and loads of character shown.
Man of the Match: Jude
U14s
A tough first game back against a very strong Haynes Harriers side. With no substitutes, players carrying injuries and eventually finishing with just nine players on the pitch, the boys showed great determination to see the game through.
There were plenty of positives to take from the game as the season gets underway.

U15 Girls
A very special day for Sawbridgeworth Town as our U15 Girls played their first ever girls game!
The girls put in a fantastic performance against a strong Enfield side, showing brilliant attitude, effort and togetherness. Despite being a couple of players short, they kept battling throughout and earned a well-deserved draw.
Final score: 3–3
Players of the Match: Kayla & Rubby
Kayla grabbed a brilliant hat-trick, while Rubby showed fantastic skill and tenacity and played a big part in our positive play.
Ella picked up two assists, with Madi also getting an assist.
A brilliant first chapter for Sawbridgeworth Town Girls Football and plenty to build on.
U18s
The U18s got their season underway with a tough away game against Stotfold U18 Blacks on the 3G Astro.
The boys came away with a 2–1 defeat, with the opening goal coming from a soft penalty decision. The result certainly didn't reflect the chances created, with the ball just not wanting to go in more than once!
A reasonable start to what promises to be a long and interesting season.
We may not have photos from this one, but we'll be looking forward to seeing plenty more of the U18s throughout the season.
A big well done to every player who represented Sawbridgeworth Town this weekend.
Whatever the result, we're proud of the effort, attitude and character shown across the club. There is plenty to build on, plenty to look forward to and, most importantly, plenty of football still to come.
