SAPCOTE CRICKET CLUB AGM

Sapcote Cricket Club will be hosting their annual AGM on Monday 2nd March 2026. Venue to be confirmed.

Anyone interested in a role on the committee or wishing to nominate someone for an existing role, please make either Matthew Furlong or Alex Leigh aware by Friday 27th February 2026.

Anyone wishing to propose amendments to the clubs governing documents, please make either Matthew Furlong or Alex Leigh aware by Friday 27th February 2026.

Sapcote Cricket Club are recruiting.

The club, established in 1897, has played a part in village life for many years. The playing field, fondly known to us as "The SCG" has seen many developments of its time as the home of Sapcote's cricket team. From new pavilions, practice batting nets and improved storage facilities to a range of equipment used to maintain the square and outfield, the club has become a well resourced organisation.

This season, Sapcote Cricket Club is looking to recruit players and officials to help it progress further and continue to grow.

The senior team currently have 2 teams in the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket League. Our first and second teams play weekly on a Saturday from April through to September. We also have a ladies softball cricket team competing in the Nuneaton and District Women's Development League and their indoor winter league.

We pride all our teams for their welcoming, friendly, diverse and determined qualities. No level of experience, ability or confidence would find itself out of place in our teams and offers of support and assistance ever hard to find.

If you have an interest in joining the club as a player or official, please feel free to contact us via Facebook, message via our website or come down to meet us at our nets advertised weekly from February at Countesthorpe College.

We also have other opportunities within the club if you have any of the following interests...

Ground maintenance - upkeep and preparation of the square, outfield and equipment, including cutting and rolling the square and outfield, crease marking, scarifying etc. We also have a number of quality machines including mowers and rollers which need regular attention and maintenance.

Scorers - On game days we are required to keep a digital live score via ipad or laptop using the ECBs scoring platform. This provides live and detailed tracking and statistics for all games while relaying the match results to the league.

Umpires - Game day umpires are not supplied by the league. This means as a club we provide our own, often from the players on the day. Opportunities are available for individuals to be provided formal training from the ECB, covered by the club, should they have an interest in umpiring our games.

Junior development roles (Coach, Manager) - An opportunity to develop our junior offer will be supported with formal training and club support. With links to the village school, our aspiration is to build a village junior squad and coaching team.

Just a snippet of our 2s keeper, Ben Close on his way to a magnificent 150 runs with the bat today. Hall of fame moment. Notably 126 runs scored in bourdaries including 15 fours and 11 sixes in only 75 balls. An incredible journey you have been on pal.

Just like Yorkie Bars, cricket in Sapcote is not just for boys!

After an incredible first season coming 3rd in the league, Sapcote Ladies Cricket Club offers a softball entry into ladies cricket. Accessible for all skill levels and ages, Sapcote Ladies provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all.

With regular training through the season supported by our coaching team, and a great social calendar, take the chance to join our incredible club on its progressive journey to diversity cricket for all.

The first team at home have set a cracking 194 for the visitors, Sileby Town, to chase. Declan Allen hitting a selfless 89 supported by Alex Slingsby, Prashanth Tharmalingam and Moze Boldry.

Off to a steady start, the visitors are currently 91/4 at drinks.
