Rocco Spencer and GiGi Fisk Crowned Champions
The Isle of Man junior golf championships were held recently at Castletown Golf Club.
GiGi Fisk secured the girls’ championship with a round of 98 in demanding windy conditions at Castletown, finishing nine shots ahead of runner-up Eva Moore. The competitors were level after eight holes before GiGi gained an advantage on the ninth with a three-shot swing, followed by an exceptional birdie on the tenth, which established a lead she maintained throughout the remainder of the competition.
In the boys’ championship, thirteen-year-old Rocco Spencer continued his outstanding performance this season, achieving victory by a single shot after carding an 82. Demonstrating resilience, Rocco recovered from a score of nine on the fourth hole to edge out five competitors who concluded their rounds with scores of 83. Luke Begley was awarded second place following a countback, while Jake Morris took third position, narrowly surpassing Robin Bremner. Other players finishing on 83 included Caleb Kewley and Rory McLoughlin.
Age group winners are as follows:
• Under 12: Hamish Skinner
• Under 14 (and overall champion): Rocco Spencer
• Under 16: Luke Begley
• Under 18: Jake Morris
Congratulations to the winners, and to all of the competitors who acquitted themselves extremely well on a challenging day.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all helpers and volunteers for their contributions on the day, and to Castletown Golf Links for hosting the event.
