Member & Guest and Division 1 Handicap Trophy

Another busy weekend of competitions at JOG saw the Member & Guest take place on Saturday, alongside the Junior Member & Guest.

Lucas Buxton & Jack Edwards were triumphant in the Junior version, with runners-up Emma & Marc Robson also pictured below with Junior Chair, Sue Lee.

The ‘adult’ version saw Ben Cutmore & guest Tom Race come home with an impressive 44 points, with Ben scoring three over on his own ball. Andy Bennett & guest Simon Knight were runners-up with 43 points.

Some excellent scoring on a bright day in Bedfordshire.

The Division 1 Handicap Trophy then took place on Sunday, with another day of good scoring. Adrian Clibbon & James Hazelwood were pipped on countback by Clark Leese, who took the trophy with a nett 69.

The weekend saw three competitions take place at JOG – the September Medal, Division 3 Stableford and the annual Juniors V Scratch Team V Club match.

There was some good scoring on Carthagena, with Kevin Barbour coming home in first place with an impressive 43 points, closely followed by Andrew Brookman with 42 points.

Kevin and Andy are pictured below with Club President, Martin Stackemann.

Sunday also saw the annual playing of the Juniors V Scratch Team V Club.

The Juniors V Scratch Team was first played in 2010 as a way of bringing the best players in the Club together to pass on their knowledge and experience to the next generation of golfers. The Club V Juniors started in 1973 with the two matches combined in 2012.

This year saw a fantastic turnout of both Scratch players and Juniors, so many thanks to everyone who took part and helped keep this great JOG tradition going.

The Junior Team can be seen below with both trophies after beating both the Club & The Scratch Team.

Captain’s Shotgun Greensomes

Bank Holiday Monday saw the Captain’s Shotgun Greensomes take place, with the fairway irrigation helping to keep the fairways at JOG looking wonderfully green.

Runners-up, with a nett 67, were Richard Dilley & John Manners.

The Peerage Bowl took place over 36 holes on the JOG course on Sunday 9th August. 36-hole foursomes medal can test any friendship, although fortunately, after a few pints, everyone is usually friends again.

The greens were excellent, as were the scores. Rounds of nett 69 and 66 from Richard Dilley & John Manners (below with Club Captain Paul Fletcher) saw them take the title, finishing ahead of Carl Williams & James de Caux, who recorded a pair of nett 68s.

It was a long day, but as ever, the course was in great shape. Paul mentioned it was good to see so many people on the terrace in the late afternoon/evening enjoying the golf & sun.

Many thanks also to the likes of William Gilbert & Billy Jackson, who offered to step in and mark cards should anyone pull out. It is much appreciated and a great example of the support that makes these events possible.

What a great day for our Past Captain's Trophy!

A big congratulations to Sylvia Showan, who won this year's Past Captains Trophy with a fantastic 39 points!

It was a really close competition, with Paul Conibear also finishing on 39 points. Sylvia took the win on countback after a great day's golf.

The Past Captains Trophy is always a lovely event, bringing together both current and past captains for a catch-up on and off the course. After the golf, everyone enjoyed a buffet in the clubhouse to round off the day.

Congratulations again, Sylvia, and thank you to everyone who took part!
