Xander’s armlock putting experiment is over!

After fiery comments at the Memorial calling for the style to be banned, Xander adopted the style with little success. Prior to switching, he was averaging 0.737 Strokes Gained Putting per round, compared to a loss of -0.055 strokes per round after the switch. Was he wrong, or did he just not give himself enough time to get used to the style?

For reference, Bryson went from -0.192 SGP in 2017, then got worse in his first 10 rounds with armlock, with -0.243 SGP before getting comfortable and finishing the season gaining 0.34 SGP per round.

Want to make more putts? Try this drill - all you need is a couple tees!

Starting the ball on your line is vital to making putts, and this drill is an excellent way to learn. Start by finding a straight putt. Next, place a tee on either side of your line, just wider than one ball width apart. Then all that’s left to do is putt! This drill will give you instant feedback on your start line and help you starting lighting up the greens!

Golf Like A US Open Champion!

What a win this week by Jon Rahm at Torrey Pines! Torrey demands accuracy off the tee, and Rahm was able to deliver all week thanks to his compact and powerful swing. Notice Rahm’s lower body action - he loads into his right heel on the backswing, which allows him to more effectively use the ground to create power in the downswing. This allows him to keep the short back swing but still hit the ball extremely far and straight!

The secret to the driver-off-the-deck is a low and slow takeaway. It may also be helpful to grip down an inch on the grip to focus on smooth contact. Try it out in practice before bringing it out during a money game!

The art of walking in a putt - the secret to walking in a putt is to really lunge forward with the left leg and make sure no matter how far away you are from the hole it only takes 1 step to get there. 🤣😜
