The Long Eaton Lightning Ball Hockey Club was established in 2016 and is still expanding. We accept all abilities and are a coed team, the only restriction we currently have is you need to be of 18 years of age to play. With BHUK National competition underway, we are pleased to announce that we have joined forces with Nottingham Hawks BHC this year and will compete under the "Thunderbirds" banner in Ball Hockey UK Tier 2 action, kicking off this weekend against North East Dekstars.

The Thunderbirds will be a mix of Lightning and Hawks players battling it out against clubs from across the country.

We face off at 9:45am this morning and again at 12:15pm

Last night, the Lightning travelled to face the Nottingham Hawks BHC ahead of the start of the 2026/27 BHUK Central Conference and came off on the wrong side of a 10-4 result.

Despite starting strong and getting the best of the early shots, outshooting the home team 2 to 1 in the first period, the visitors trailled by 3 goals to 1, with the lone goal coming from Matthew Debbage in the period.

Period 2 ended with teams exchanging goals, in an even period, with both teams getting opportunities, Aiden Steyn and Matthew Debbage getting the goals for the Lightning.

The final period was a little more one sided in terms of goals, despite outshooting the Hawks 22-15, it was the Hawks who found the net to extend their lead, with Marc Casolo getting the final period lone goal for the Lightning.

We would like to thank the Hawks for hosting the game and we look forward to going to battle again later this year.

The Lightning are in action this evening as we head to Clifton to take on Nottingham Hawks in a pre-season friendly.

Updates will be posted later on the team for the evening, please note that the game will not be livestreamed evening if the comments suggest otherwise.
