💙 This Sunday, our lovely teacher Maya is taking on the Great North Run!🏃‍♀️

Maya will be running in aid of Newcastle Hospitals and in memory of her Grandad, who ran the event on a number of occasions❤️

This is a cause that means a great deal to Maya and her family, and we’re incredibly proud of her for taking on the challenge💫

💙A bittersweet goodbye...

These two have been part of my swimming journey since I first opened EMSA Sandiacre three years ago💚

I taught them both from complete beginners, watching them grow in confidence, develop their skills and progress into the competent Stage 3 swimmers they are today🏊‍♀️💙

For the last four months, they’ve also been taught by Faye, who has continued supporting their progress and helping them build on everything they had already achieved.

I was back in on Monday to say a proper goodbye and, of course, to award them their latest badges before they head off on their next adventure🌟

They’re now ready for their next step at EMSA Leonardo Hotel Castle Donington, where they can continue building on their skills and work towards their next stages🙌🏼

One of the things I really love about being part of EMSA is the way our pools can work together. As our swimmers develop, we can help them find the right environment and space to continue progressing when they’re ready for their next challenge💙

We’re going to miss them both so much in our lessons, but we couldn’t be prouder of how far they’ve come. This is absolutely the right next step for them, and we can’t wait to see what they achieve next!💖

⭐Parent Review | Parent & Child Lessons⭐

Starting swimming lessons with your baby can feel like a big step, especially when it's your first experience of baby swimming 👶💦

🏅Badge Celebration Week starts tomorrow✨

This week, we'll be handing out badges to celebrate the progress our swimmers have made throughout the term! 🏊🏼‍♀️🙌🏼

Every swimmer's journey is unique, which is why we don't rush children through the stages. We focus on building strong foundations, confidence and good technique before introducing the next challenge.

Our teachers assess swimmers throughout the term, looking for skills that can be performed confidently and consistently, not simply something they've managed once💚

We also aim to keep our swimmers progressing together in the same group wherever possible. This allows them to build confidence with familiar teachers and swimmers while developing their skills together.

Most importantly, every badge represents progress, whether that's mastering a new skill, becoming more independent or simply growing in confidence in the water✨

We're so proud of every single one of our swimmers and can't wait to celebrate their achievements this week🥰🏅

Every swimmer has their own journey💖

It's so easy to look at another child and wonder why they're doing something your child isn't yet🤔

But swimming isn't a race, and there isn't one set timeline for progress‼️

Some swimmers pick up a new skill quickly, while others need more time, repetition and encouragement before it clicks.

And sometimes the biggest progress isn't a new stroke or a longer distance, it's the child who is suddenly more confident, willing to try or becoming more independent in the water🙌🏼🤩

We don't compare our swimmers! We meet them where they are, support them from there and celebrate the progress they make along the way💙

Trust their journey! The little steps really do add up 🏊‍♀️✨

This lovely feedback really highlights some of the things that are so important to us - keeping our class sizes small, giving every child individual encouragement and celebrating their progress along the way✨

“This has to be the best swim school around. Vicky and her team are great. The class sizes are ideal and each child is given time and encouragement. I think this small detail definitely differs from other swim schools that have larger class sizes.

Every session I see an improvement in my child’s swimming and the more they improve the more they want to keep going. Vicky’s endless energy and enthusiasm also plays a major part in this too.”

What can you expect from our Parent & Child lessons?🤔

Our Parent & Child lessons are all about creating those first positive experiences in the water🥰

From songs, games and play to floating, kicking, moving through the water and building independence, we introduce skills in a fun and supportive way - always working at your little one's pace💙✨

And you're learning too! Being in the water alongside your child means you'll learn how to support and encourage their swimming journey both in and out of lessons.

Our lessons are suitable from 6 weeks to 3.5 years, and we're here to help your little one build confidence, familiarity and comfort in the water from the very beginning‍🏊🏼

FAQ | When's the best age to start swimming?

The honest answer? It depends on the child.

Our Parent & Child lessons start from just 6 weeks old, giving little ones the opportunity to become familiar, comfortable and confident in the water from the very beginning🥰

But what if your child is older and hasn't started yet?

It's never too late 🏊‍♀️

As children get older, they can sometimes develop more fears or worries around the water, which can make those first steps a little harder. But that doesn't mean those barriers can't be overcome✨

We've helped many swimmers build their confidence with time, patience and plenty of encouragement. Every child is different, and every journey will look different too💙

There's no perfect age to start, just the right approach for your child.

💚EMSA Teacher Tip💙

🗣️One of the easiest ways to support your child's swimming progress between lessons is to use the same language they hear from their teacher.

Our little cues are designed to make skills easier to remember, especially for younger swimmers. When they hear a familiar phrase at home and then recognise it again in their lesson, it can help connect the two experiences🙌🏼

You don't need a pool or a long practice session either. Even a few minutes of pretending to swim on the sofa, practicing arm movements in the garden or talking through a skill before your next swim can help keep those skills familiar 🏊‍♀️

And don't worry about getting everything perfect, we'll do the teaching! Your role is simply to make swimming feel familiar, positive and fun💙✨
