Avon County Rowing Club

Avon County Rowing Club Avon County Rowing Club is located in Saltford, between Bath and Bristol. We have some 200 members across thriving Junior, Women’s and Men’s squads.

Avon County Rowing Club is located in Saltford, about half-way between Bath and Bristol. We row on the River Avon, where we have about four kilometres of quiet water, including a straight of about 1,250 metres. The club was formed in 1973, following a merger of the former Avon and Bristol clubs. The club is run by its members and relies on them for the upkeep of its site, including the maintenance

Thanks to all of you who have completed the availability sheet for helping at the Avon Head on the 5th March. We really need everyone to let us know now whether you are available to help or not. Sorting out the jobs rota takes time, particularly as many members would like to race so this has to be taken account of when writing it.

If you are hoping to race, you are expected to help when you are not on the water but if you are not racing, we also need your help. The event is a big fundraiser for the club – paying for our new boats (including the new men’s quad that is being built at the moment). Don’t worry if you haven’t helped before or are not very experienced with rowing – there are plenty of jobs that do not require any rowing experience.

At 11:30 Thursday 14th Nov the river is perfectly rowable and we would run the race under these conditions. We expect the race to go ahead but will make a definitive decision at 09:00 tomorrow, Friday.
