And that's a wrap!

After a decent season in a new division, finishing 6th overall in the BDCA Division 8 East, last Saturday saw our End of Season Presentation Evening at . The yearly season quiz hosted by Trevor Pratt pointed significantly towards where the awards were about to go, with Neil Murphy demonstrating a consistent all round performance, scooping both the Player of the Year and the Players Player of the Year with 195 runs and a team high score of 65; as well as 27 wickets, with best figures of 5/22.

Other notable performances this year included:

Neil Sinclair the pick of the bowlers with the best innings of 6/10, most wickets (29) best economy (3.07), average (8.93) and two five-fors.
Neil Murphy with highest batting innings (65) and up there in second place for most of the bowling records.
Zak Greatorex with 14 fielding victims (13 catches, 1 run out).
Steve Jolliffe with the most total runs (200).
Derek Handford with 6 not outs.
Steve Gurnsey with the highest batting average (25.67).
Steve Jolliffe & Jamie Hill with the highest batting partnership of 62.

An additional shout out to a special award this year, the Most Unvaluable Player went to Scott Tegg for the unenviable record of most games without an MVP point. We're all wishing you a speedy recovery on your current injury and look forward to having you back next year 💪

For a final time this year, thank you to our sponsors
and for their unwavering support!

Now for a spot of R&R over winter, with nets starting sometime in the New Year - watch this space for details.

Frys won by 6 wickets!

A short hop up the road for many of us to Bitton Cricket Club on Saturday ended in a convincing six wicket win and consolidation of our mid-table finish this year.

After winning the toss and electing to field on a very green wicket, Bitton got off to a measured start frustrating the Frys opening bowlers. The breakthrough finally came through Neil Murphy (1-13), with Sam Biddleston (3-19) using his pace to good effect at the other end. Zak Greatorex took a useful couple (2-31) and Trevor Pratt cleaned up at the end of the Bitton innings with good economy and great bowling figures of 4-13 including 3 maidens from his 8 overs.

We then got off to a shaky start to our innings, and at 2-2 inside the first over WinViz had definitely swung in Bitton's favour. Charlie Morgan, opening the batting, played patiently and punished any bad balls for 19, bringing Frys back into the game before he was bowled by a very low bouncing delivery. With Frys at 35-3, Steve Jolliffe and Jamie Hill put on a strong 4th wicket partnership of 63 runs with a swashbuckling 30 from Jamie and a glittering 32 not out for Jolly, breaking the back of the Bitton total until Jamie chipped one back to the bowler for a c&b. Sam Biddleston finished off the Bitton total with 12* including a massive six into the llama field next door and a crashing four to win the game.

🗒Team News!🗒
This weekend sees our penultimate game of the 2024 season as we look to build on last week's 9 wicket win, hosting Mells CC 1st XI at Saltford Sports Club. Can the Neils keep their 1-2 placing in the Division's bowling table?!

Frys Win by 9 Wickets!
After losing the toss and being asked to bowl, Neil Sinclair took a massive 6-10 from his 8 overs including 6 maidens to skittle Chilcompton for just 48 runs. Despite losing an early wicket, Lee Bruton (23*) and Charlie Morgan (9*) completed the run chase in just 12 overs for Frys to take 19 points from the game. All eyes on the Somerset Cricket Foundation honours board for what is likely to be Neil's second appearance on it this season 👀

We'll look to build on this convincing win with a home tie vs Mells CC next week 💪

FRYS WIN BY 4 WICKETS!

After losing the toss and being asked to bowl by Pucklechurch who's openers got away to a solid start assisted by a quick outfield and the rather large downhill, we managed to keep them to a total of 179 with some great commitment in the field for the loss of six wickets.

Opening the batting, Frys top order got off to a good start with mostly all double-figure scores most notably Jolly (37) and Spanks (24) in the early overs. The middle order dug in to the taks at hand with Chazza getting us over the line from 110-5 with a great 35* assisted by a very measured 18* from Zak at the other end for a handy 18 points in the league! Extra shout out for our sponsors We Are Not Architects for the post match round 🍻

Next week we're back at Saltford Community Association for a home game against Bristol Asians.
