Ayrshire TAG

Ayrshire TAG The Ayrshire region page for The Advisory Group (TAG). The Advisory Group has been going since 1996.

It was originally set up by KEY Community Supports to enable people with learning disabilities to have a stronger voice in the services they use and in their local communities. In 2012 The Advisory Group became a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation. We have 3 mains aims:
•To promote the gifts and talents of people with learning disabilities.
•To break down the barriers of discrimination.

•And to help make a more inclusive Scotland. The Advisory Group is an organisation run by people with learning disabilities. It promotes social inclusion and the creation of a Scotland where the gifts and talents of everyone are recognised and every citizen is seen to have equal value in society. We do this through training, consultation, hosting social inclusion events and bringing people together.

Nicole from North Ayrshire TAG along side Clair did fantastic competing in the 5k Ayrshire Colour Dash in Eglington Park at the weekend, even with the very muddy paths around the park.

Nicole raised £70 for Ayrshire Cancer Support. She had lots of fun warming up before the race dancing and singing to Colin McCardle DJing.
She then enjoyed a very well deserved hotdog when she finished.

We had a fantastic meeting at North Ayrshire TAG this month. We had our usual great turnout and caught up with everyone's news. We looked at the new TAG Manifesto that all the TAG's helped pull together, a great bit of work! We elected Bobby as our new Secretary and Gerry will be the new Vice Secretary. We also held a vote for the next member to come along to National TAG and we are delighted to say that Ryan won a very close vote and will represent North Ayrshire alongside Stephen. Congratulations Ryan!

Our North Ayrshire TAG year finished with some great fun at our Christmas Quiz. It was a really close Christmas battle between the festive teams and came down to the cards to decide... Higher or lower? The cards were not kind to the teams but a great time was had by all. A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from North Ayrshire TAG.

We had a fantastic turnout at our April TAG meeting, we really are growing in strength! We caught up with everyone's news and plans for the summer. Our main agenda item was something that Colin and Stephen had brought from National TAG. We split into groups and we were looking at the support we get from Key and how we use this. We had so much to talk about that we will go back to this next time. We finished our meeting with our usual lovely lunch from the Whitlees Centre.
