⚽ TRAINING FINISHES AT 7:30PM… BUT THE COACHING DOESN’T. ❤️🖤

When the players head home after training, the work behind the scenes is often only just beginning.

Writing the next training plan.
Choosing squads.
Sorting fixtures and parks.
Organising transport.
Creating team graphics.
Fundraising.
Paperwork.
Messages.
Admin.

The list really is endless.

And here’s something worth remembering… our coaches are volunteers.

They don't get paid to give up their evenings, weekends and, sometimes, even valuable family time, all to make sure your child gets the best possible experience in football. ❤️⚽

They do it because they care about the players, the team and helping young people develop.

But coaches are human too.

They will make mistakes.

Sometimes decisions won't be popular. Sometimes you'll disagree with them.

That might include:

⚽ Matchday formations
⚽ Matchday squads
⚽ Positional selections
⚽ Who starts
⚽ Who is benched

Nobody gets every decision right every single time. Football is about opinions, and everyone will have one.

But disagreement never gives anyone the right to abuse a volunteer.

❌ Abusive comments
❌ Being shouted at
❌ Personal attacks
❌ Being told aggressively how to coach
❌ Drama from outside football being brought into the club

None of it is acceptable.

Our coaches give up their own time to help your child develop, learn, grow and enjoy football.

They aren't perfect. Nobody is.

But they are people who are giving their time freely for the benefit of our young players.

So before criticising, shouting or sending that angry message… remember there is a person behind the role.

A volunteer.

Someone who could be spending that time with their own family.

Instead, they're helping build an experience for yours. ❤️🖤

Respect our coaches. Respect our volunteers. Respect grassroots football.

🚨 RECRUITING PLAYERS NOW – BORN IN 2010 🚨⚽️

A good Defender or Midfielder knows there’s far more to the game than simply chasing the ball. 👀⚽️

Do you know when to hold your position and protect the space behind you? 🛡️
Do you know when to drop in and support your defence?
Do you know when to step forward, win the ball and put pressure on the opposition? 💪
Can you read what’s happening around you before the ball even arrives?
Can you organise, communicate and help the players around you? 🗣️🤝
Do you understand when the game needs calmness and when it needs someone to take control?

We're looking for Defenders & Midfielders who understand the responsibilities that come with those positions and want to bring that knowledge into a competitive team environment.

This Saturday, Ardeer Thistle F.C 2010’s are heading across the water as we make the journey on the ferry to Dunoon! 🌊🔴⚫

After yesterday’s result, this gives us an opportunity for redemption but we know that means one thing…

WE NEED TO TURN UP. 💪

We need to bring the energy, the effort, the desire and everything we’ve been working on in training. Cup football is a different challenge, and every single player will need to be ready to give their all for the badge. ❤️🖤

At Ardeer Thistle, we want to create the best possible environment for our players to enjoy football, develop, learn and grow in confidence. ⚽❤️🖤

That means everyone has an important role to play.

We absolutely love seeing parents, families and supporters getting behind the boys at games. Your encouragement can make a massive difference! 👏

What we ask is simple:

✅ Encourage the players
✅ Support them through mistakes
✅ Applaud effort, teamwork and good football
✅ Respect the opposition
✅ Respect the referees
✅ Allow the coaches to manage and coach the team

There is no need for instructions to be shouted from the sidelines. Players receiving different instructions from different people can become confused, especially during a game.

The coaching team will take responsibility for the tactics, positions and instructions.

At training, we also ask that the coaches are allowed to run the session without interruption so players can concentrate and get the most from their development.

And when it comes to referees…

⚠️ Respect is non-negotiable.

Players make mistakes.
Coaches make mistakes.
Referees make mistakes.

That is football.

Our players are always watching the adults around them, so let's make sure we set the right example. ❤️🖤

Let's create a positive environment where players aren't afraid to make mistakes, try something new and learn from the game.

🔴 MATCH REPORT | ARDEER 0–6 DUNOON

A disappointing afternoon for us here at Ardeer Thistle 2010’s as the boys headed over to Inverclyde Sports Centre to take on Dunoon in what should have been a very competitive match.

Unfortunately, we just couldn't find our rhythm today.

For large spells, we were missing in midfield, leaving far too much space in the centre of the park. Dunoon recognised this and took advantage, scoring twice in the first half and adding a further four in the second to finish 6–0 winners.

There were a number of things that cost us today. Sloppy passes, not scanning what's around us, poor decisions in possession and simply kicking the ball away instead of looking to play football all contributed.

We also had some good runs and opportunities, but too many touches on the ball, particularly in the box, gave Dunoon time to recover and regain possession. Their goalkeeper also used long kicks effectively to get them in behind us.

Could we make excuses? Absolutely.

But we won't. We just weren't good enough today.

📈 DEVELOPMENT ISN'T ALWAYS ABOUT WINNING

We haven't had the greatest start to the season, but we're taking these losses as development opportunities.

You can't develop if you're winning every week. What can you learn if everything is always going your way?

It's the difficult games, mistakes and defeats that show us what we need to improve.

We'll take what we've experienced today, work on it in training and come back better.

At this age, development is hugely important, but so is enjoying the game. As long as the players are enjoying their football, enjoying being around their teammates and continuing to want to improve, that's the main thing. ❤️⚽

And now for the interesting part...

Our next game is against Dunoon again! 👀

This time, we're heading to their home park for Round 1 of the Scottish Cup.

A chance to put things right but only if we turn up ready to play football from the first whistle.

We learn. We develop. We improve. We go again. 🔴⚽
