Hi,

So to follow up from previous post, unfortunately due to a lack of interest I'm going to have to postpone the first session start date. I do still plan to bring rope flow to the North East, but I may wait until the weather is a little more consistent since I think that may be a bit off-putting to some people. I may also take a look at some venues and consider offering indoor classes instead, if I can find somewhere that's affordable.

Sorry for anyone who was looking forward to this! I was excited to get things started, but clearly it's just not the right time. I'll continue to develop my own flow skills though and will hopefully get classes up and running at some point over summer πŸ™Œ

Just 1 week to go until our first rope flow class!

Classes will be capped at 5 to ensure that social distancing can be maintained and also so that I can dedicate plenty of time to 1-to-1 tuition with each attendee.

Since starting my own rope flow journey a short time ago, I have fallen in love with this practice and cannot wait to introduce it to more people in our local area πŸ™Œ

Today's practice was once again focusing on the Cheetah's Tail. This isn't a particularly advanced movement, but it's difficult for me personally for a couple of different reasons: firstly, I suffer from poor shoulder mobility and shoulder impingement. It's something I've struggled with for a long time and never really taken proper steps to address (something that I am now doing!) but any movement where the rope is behind your back is proving difficult for me as a result. Secondly, my thoracic mobility isn't great either, which makes the move even more tricky.

I made a pledge with a lady I met on Instagram who is at a similar stage in her rope flow practice to myself. We promised each other to drill Cheetah's Tail for 5 minutes each day for 2 weeks and record the sessions for each other to help keep us accountable. This is day 6 of that practice and I'm definitely noticing an improvement since day 1, I'm using more thoracic movement rather than trying to perform the movement entirely with the shoulders. Still got more work to do though! Once I've done the full two weeks I plan to put together a progress video with clips from each day 😊 Celebrate the minor victories, every day you practice is a day of progress πŸ™Œ

Today it was back to drilling spins. I've been working on different mic release drills for 10 minutes each day. I'm definitely making progress on my rope control, but still struggling to catch the rope when coming out of the spin, so it isn't ready to be added in to my flows just yet but slowly getting there! 😊

In other news, my hot knife turned up! The hot knife is a tool that is used to cut and cauterize rope. Once the rope itself finally arrives I can get to work on cutting the practice ropes ready for classes to begin πŸ™Œ

Today I was drilling anchors️ βš“οΈ As the name suggests, anchors work by anchoring one arm and letting the other flow freely. This is a deceptively difficult move to try when you're used to two handed flows, but forces you to incorporate more thoracic movement to move the rope around your body.

Today's practice involved more skill drills. Getting ever closer to those mic releases now. It actually feels like I've been working on these forever, when in actual fact it's been less than a week.
