St. Mellion golf club juniors

The first match for the B team (B team by name not quality) in the Tamar Cup played at Boringdon this afternoon against Yelverton ended in a 2-1 victory for the St Mellion team of Nic and Ethan in the singles matches and Logan and Harry F in the foursomes. With a Yelverton win in the singles and a St Mellion win in the foursomes it was left to Ethan and being 2 down with 3 to play who else would you want to be in that position as he remained calm and composed to win the last 3 holes. Played in a friendly spirit in nice weather we wish the Yelverton players all the best for the rest of the season ⛳️

UPDATE 2: Second round was changed to 9 holes due to the heat where Owen shot 3 over. Cornwall finished 2nd only 1 point behind the winners Gloucestershire.

Joab was level after 9 holes and only 4 shots off the top

UPDATE: Owen shot 4 over on round 1 to put him 9th out of 34 with Cornwall currently 2nd out of the 6 counties competing. All to play for on round 2.

It just seems everyday that our juniors are involved in competitive golf with today Owen playing at Came Down golf club, Dorset in the England Schools Golf South West regional qualifier over 36 holes. Owen then travels to Bude to join Nic and Ethan representing Cornwall in the SW Counties U16/U14 championship with a practice round tomorrow and the match on Thursday. Joab is playing in the Clutch tour at St Mellion over the next 3 days playing as an amateur in a professional competition with some previous players now on the DP World Tour. On Saturday one of our Tamar Cup teams head across the bridge to Boringdon to play Yelverton.

A big thank you to Harry Lusher, Ethan and Alfie for playing in the extreme heat today for the club to finish a credible 7th out of 14 teams with Harry posting the 4th best stableford score (39) out of 42 players.
Congratulations to Trevose Golf Club who are off to Woodhall Spa in August as the county representatives. Also thanks to Justin Lusher returning as Junior Organiser for the day

Congratulations to Ethan for winning the boys net section of the West of England U14 Championships held at Mendip Golf Club. A 36 hole comp played over two extremely hot days saw Ethan shoot 9 over gross which also saw him finish 5th overall out of 48 players

Ethan, Nic and Harry are playing in the West of England U14 Champs this weekend which is a 36 hole comp over 2 days. Great rounds by Ethan and Nic finishing day 1 4 over and 5 over respectively. 🏌️‍♂️

Pleased to say that a third of the U16/U14 team for the South West Championships at Bude next week come from St Mellion with Owen, Ethan and Nic selected. Play well boys 🏌️‍♂️

Cornwall Golf is hosting this years South West Counties U/14's and U/16s Championships at Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club.

Congratulations to this years team supported by their managers and county coaches. We wish them all the best next week.
