St. Mellion golf club juniors

Our final George Bolitho league match was played today with Owen, Harry, Ethan, Logan and Tate taking on an undefeated Launceston with a win required to keep alive our chance of playing at the finals day next Sunday and a win was what we got with a 5-0 win. Played in good spirits with burger and chips after we now await Launceston’s result tomorrow against Bude to see if we progress.

Our juniors made the trip to Launceston to play the next match in the Bolitho league. Despite winning our last two matches 3-2 we were on the end of a 3-2 defeat in a very closely fought match with Ethan and Osian winning their matches. Thank you to Paul Rigby (Launceston Junior Organiser), the Launceston team and golf club for their hospitality and look forward to welcoming them in the return fixture in a couple of weeks time. St Mellion held it's junior open yesterday which attracted 61 players on the Nicklaus course (Medal) and 20 on the Kernow course (Stableford). Despite some heavy showers it hopefully didn't 'dampen' the spirits of the juniors as they made their way around. Kindy supported by Tournament Golf College and Samworth Brothers along with nearest the pin and longest drive sponsorship from Designer Travel by Mark Rahman, TJC Golf Clothing, North Plymouth Performance and Rehabilitation, Memrise, Astron Health and St Mellion's men's Captain Chris Pountney and men's Secretary Antony Burgess a good spread of people went away with a prize.
Overall winner of the gross competition on the Nicklaus was St Mellion's very own Nic Locke (pictured below left with Chris Pountney) who shot a magnificent 1 over par 73.
The Stableford competition was won by Zachary Evans (pictured below right with Chris) from St Austell Golf Club Junior Section with an impressive 44 points.

Our team of Owen, Harry F, Harry L, Archie and Tate made the short trip to China Fleet to play our second match in the Bolitho league and came away 3-2 winners with Owen, Harry F and Archie winning their matches and Harry L and Tate losing their matches on the 18th hole. All the best to Nic and Ethan along with Cornwall U14 teammate Rory from West Cornwall playing in the final round of the Faldo Junior Tour at Mad Swans in the South Downs. Two 12 hole rounds yesterday sees all 3 in the top 15 out of 54 with Nic lying in 3rd place only 3 shots off the top. Good luck to all
