A crunch match that had everything, but ended in frustration as we faced Eldwick yesterday afternoon.

We dominated the opening exchanges with several shots on goal, but we just couldn’t find that clinical finish. That changed in the 44th minute! After a frantic sequence of rebounds from Aleah and April, April finally poked it through the keeper’s legs to send us into the break 1-0 up.

Eldwick restarted quickly, leveling the score just 5 minutes after the whistle. From there, it became a tense, end-to-end battle. Eldwick managed to find their second in the 67th minute, leaving us fighting for an equaliser.

The final minutes were overshadowed by yet more questionable decisions. We were denied a massive goalscoring opportunity when the referee stopped play for a trip with no one around the player. The resulting frustration saw Tash receive a yellow for dissent after questioning the decision.

Things then turned ugly as the Eldwick manager entered the pitch - the less we say about it, the better. It was an unacceptable display of aggression that has no place in the women’s game. Despite the intimidation, the referee’s decisions remained inconsistent; Tash was shown a second yellow turned red, while the manager somehow walked away with just a booking.

In the dying seconds, we threw everything at a corner, including our keeper, Hannah, in an attempt to rescue a point. It was a gamble that didn’t pay off, as Eldwick broke away to score their third on the counter.

Regardless of the scoreline, we come away proud of our unity and the growth we’ve shown throughout this 25/26 season. We win and lose as a team, and next season we go again, coming back stronger than ever.

🌟 The biggest win of the day was seeing Cheryl back on the pitch after a prolonged period out, having her back with the squad was the highlight of the afternoon. Thank you to everyone for welcoming her back with a massive round of applause.

🏆 Player of the Match goes to Kirsty Allen. A total warrior performance in defense. She may have significantly less ankle bone left after the hacking she received, but she put in a massive performance and stood tall for her teammates amidst the chaos.

This Sunday will be our final fixture of the 25/26 season as we play host to Eldwick for a massive season finale.

We’ve already secured the points twice against Eldwick this season, so we’re hunting for the hat-trick and three league wins back-to-back! This is a total crunch match that could see us climb the table and secure promotion - it definitely isn’t one to be missed.

Leeds Hyde Park 0 - 2 Salts Ladies

BACK-TO-BACK WINS! 😮‍💨

Yesterday was all about enjoying our football, playing with a smile, and finally breaking the spell to secure our long-awaited first win against LHP.

Kicking off earlier than usual at 12:30, we started with high intensity, looking to take immediate advantage of a 10-player LHP side. We spent the first half battling a lopsided pitch and a stubborn LHP defense that simply refused to budge. Despite our constant pressure and plenty of creativity, they held firm, sending us into the break all square at 0-0.

The second half brought a fresh challenge as LHP returned to a full 11. Immediately testing us with some serious pace upfront, Salts stayed locked in. It was a massive team effort to neutralize the LHP attacks, with Hannah staying focused in the heat and coming in clutch with some big saves exactly when we needed her despite being relatively quiet.

Our persistence finally paid off in the 67th minute. Aleah showed her opportistic instinct, nipping the ball away from the LHP center-back and driving forward to calmly slot home a 1v1 with the keeper and put us 1-0 up! 🥶

Just five minutes later, the momentum shifted. In the 72nd minute, Phoebe produced a moment of magic, whipping an absolute screamer from outside the box into the back of the net out of nowhere. 🧊💥

We stayed solid for the rest of the match, clubbing together to fend off any LHP chances, and breaking through several times only to be kept out by the LHP keeper.

Player of the Match: Phoebe ⭐
Phoebe was non-stop on the wing today! She was a constant engine from start to finish, and her precise passing finally paid off when she found the net with that worldie from distance. A well-deserved POTM! 🏃‍♀️💨

It was an all-round quality match, filled with the usual laughs and great spirit we always have with the LHP ladies. Every single player clubbed together for this win on the road, pulling their weight and showing exactly what this squad is made of when we’re having fun.

With only one match to go this season, it’s still all the play for in the final fixture! Let’s keep this bounce going right to the finish line 👀🏆

Salts Ladies 3 - 2 Tadcaster ⚽️🔥

What a performance! Today was the definition of grit, heart, and teamwork. Facing a full squad of 16 with only 12 players available, we knew we were in for a physical battle from the first whistle.

We started the match with some beautiful link-up play, fancy footwork & slick passing through the thirds. However, Tadcaster showed their clinical side, bagging two quick-fire goals to put us 2-0 down by the 30-minute mark.

But if you know this team, you’ll know that resilience is what we do best. On the 38th minute, a pinpoint corner from Phoebe causing chaos in the box, and after a frantic scramble, Aleah headed it home. The comeback was on 👏

With the wind in our sails, 2 minutes later Emily threaded a perfect ball through the defense to find Aleah, who calmly slotted away her second to make it 2-2 going into the break.

We went into the second half with one thing in mind - securing the comeback. The match displayed a lot of physicality, but every single player held their own with solid tackles and tireless energy.

Tadcaster pressed hard, forcing Hannah into some big saves early on to keep us level.

We survived a nervy moment when Tadcaster were awarded a dubious indirect free-kick inside the box, but a massive collective effort saw the ball cleared to safety. Pretty much the theme for the second half.

The comeback was completed in the 57th minute after Aleah added an assist to her tally for the day, setting up Phoebe who sent a cheeky “ping” into the back of the net to put us ahead for the first time.

We held a solid defensive display for the remained of the second half, fending off multiple attempts by Tadcaster.

✨Player of the Match: Alice ✨
Alice was everywhere! She worked tirelessly to support both the attack and the defense, even taking a literal blow to the face for the cause. A truly relentless display.

From 2-0 down to a 3-2 victory against the odds - this team pulled off something special💪

Tough shift at the office as we fell 3-0 to Featherstone Flyers.

The first half was a battle against the elements; a long-distance strike caught the wind and found the back of our net, leaving us 1-0 down at the break. Despite the deficit, the hope was very much alive.

The second half showed bits of what we’re capable of. We saw brilliant glimpses of our identity, with passages of play where our passing completely outclassed the opposition. However, a brief lapse in team concentration and a sluggish display at times proved costly, conceding two goals in a ten-minute window.

While we had opportunities to strike back, we struggled to capitalize on free kicks following several Featherstone errors.

Frustrating result, but the flashes of quality give us plenty to build on. We go again this coming Sunday! 👊🔥

✨Player of the match goes to Hannah who pulled off some quality saves to help with defence and keep the scoreline down✨
