FIRSTS β½οΈ MATCH REPORT β½οΈ Vs Melksham Town FC // 2β5 MELKSHAM TOWN
The Firsts kicked off their league campaign at home against a Melksham Town side arriving on a hot streak after two FA Cup round wins.
We knew it was going to be a tough one. That didnβt dampen our hopesβ¦just the rain. π

It took us a little while to settle into the game. A new-look team, new players and plenty of partnerships still developing as everyone learns how each other likes to play.
Melksham created chances early on, but Holly in the sticks was there to shut the door, putting in a solid performance from the first whistle to the last.
Then came our breakthrough.
On the break, Lea spotted the keeper slightly off her line and went for it from range. Up and over, into the net. 1β0 Salisbury.
Melksham responded with a quick break of their own, their forward getting through to level things before half-time.

Salisbury came out looking to play, and our second goal was a brilliant example of going back to front.
Katie W picked the ball up at left-back and drove up the pitch before finding Lea. Lea lifted a perfectly weighted ball over the Melksham back line for Skyla to pounce on and finish for her first Salisbury WFC goal.
And weβre pretty sure thereβll be plenty more where that came from.
From there, Melkshamβs experience began to show. Their time playing together and strong start to the season told as they took control of the game, adding four more goals to take the points back down the road.
Not the opening-day result we wanted, but plenty to build on from a new-look side still finding its feet together.

Already proving a solid addition at the back. Shez joins Salisbury with plenty of experience behind her, and that showed on the pitch today, composed, strong and dependable throughout.
