Everyone who played enjoyed a sprinkle of the great British weather🌦️. The next mixed competition at Ashton on Mersey Golf club is in the calendar for Sunday November 22nd.

Exchange Day

This week the ladies once again ventured out, this time to enjoy the wonderful hospitality at Sandbach Golf Club as part of an exchange.

In what has been a welcome drink for the golf courses ☔️🌧️, the clouds parted and it was a lovely sunny morning of golf, followed by a delicious bite to eat in their clubhouse.

We will be welcoming the ladies of Sandbach to Ashton on Mersey Golf Club in the coming weeks.

Annual ladies golf trip | Oulton Hall 2026

Fresh from a tremendous Lady Captains day, the ladies headed off to the beautiful Oulton Hall Hotel for 2 days of golf and a nights stay!

Day 1 was a singles stableford comp, and it’s fair to say that day 1 involved plenty of snacks, giggles and the odd tipple 🥂!And the 19th hole with a view was thoroughly enjoyed!

The evening kicked off in the champagne bar and then off for a delicious meal over in the Claret Jug golf club room, where each of the ladies received a prize! Well done Lucy on her win! The frivolities continued back in the hotel’s library bar…the irony with a gang of wine fuelled lady golfers 🤣.

Day 2 was a Florida scramble which was such a fun format with teams of 4. Some sore heads and lots of belly laughs!

A huge thank you to Jackie (pic 5) for organising the annual trips which are always a huge success, and also to Alison and Sue for coordinating score cards and being general competition legends ⭐️.

The Ashton on Mersey’s ladies section is looking forward to next year’s trip already!

Lady Captains Day 2026

A big date in the diary for the ladies section, and it was a huge success! The ladies played throughout the day in glorious blue skies, with an equally glorious halfway house pit stop of Pimms and cake!

Then for the evening, the ladies were greeted by Lady Captain Louise with a glass of fizz and delicious canapés, to kick off what was a tremendous evening of a 3 course meal, drinks, awards and plenty of dancing and laughter … which the Ashton on Mersey ladies are famous for 🕺💫.

A huge thank you to Lady Captain Louise for hosting such a fantastic day, and for being such a wonderful Lady Captain 2026!

What a night! Our singers ‘The Soul Men’ were excellent and truly brought the soul and Motown energy! There was plenty of singing, dancing and laughing!

100 hole Challenge Part Two! 3 more hardy souls ventured onto the course yesterday to attempt the 100 hole challenge. Captain Steve McDermott, Jon Bray and Mike Brady were ip with the larks just after 5.00 am to start the challenge with David Gillan there to support them through the day. Once again the amazing members of Ashton on Mersey GC supported and encouraged them through the day. The lads completed the challenge in just over 12 hours. The amount of money raised from the two 100 hole challenge days has now tipped over £6000. Thank you to David Gillan for being the driving force behind this. The Captain and Lady Captain’s charities, Alzheimer’s Research & Prevent Breast Cancer, appreciate their efforts and thank everyone who has supported the challenge

The Tine is now!

A big thank you to all the dozen or so volunteers who gave their "tine" this morning after the greens had been hollow tined. The cores cut out by the contractor need to be taken off the green ahead of the greens staff sanding and seeding the greens. This is a necessary part of the annual greens maintenance to aerate them and help with the year round drainage.

The team had all 9 greens cleared in 3 hours starting at 7.00 this morning.
