Won’t go into a full match report today as it was a friendly against a local team.

That said, really pleased with the boys 👏.
Positional play got a bit scrappy at times, but that’s on me — lots of changes and players in unfamiliar roles to mix things up.

Big takeaway today is how much the weekly MYSL games are helping their development 💪
On to the Wythenshawe 7-a-side tournament next week 🔜

Enjoy the rest of your weekend team!

Tough one to take.

After a bit of distance (and a couple of beers 🍺), there’s still a lot to be proud of.

The opposition were a good side, but we felt in control for long spells and believed we’d find a way through. Small margins in the end — a few soft goals and lapses in concentration punished us — but that’s football.

What stood out most was the effort, fight and togetherness. So many positive contributions across the pitch, and Oliver outstanding again 👏🔥

Bittersweet seeing the emotion at full time — you never want to see tears, but it shows how much this group cares ❤️ That passion says everything about these boys.

Started fast this week and after that early wonder‑strike from Alton (fresh off a flight… which I 100% tracked until he landed 😂✈️) plus a cool finish from Lucas, it felt like we’d run away with it.

Spoiler: we didn’t 😂

Huge shoutout to Alton for that outrageous half‑volley, and to Albert for a save of the season — full stretch, fingertips, onto the post. Unreal. 😮🙌

Game stayed tight, but Zay tucked away a smart free‑kick and then Albert (out of goal by then, don’t panic followers 😂) sealed it.

Pretty sure our new family member baby Albie in his sale kit brought us luck… no pressure on the washing routine for next weekend 👶🏻🍀😂

All in all a good effort from all the boys to get a result against a team that is fast becoming our nemesis.

Bring on next Saturday!

Wow! What a performance from the boys today! ⚽❤️

I was absolutely delighted with the hunger, effort and work rate they showed (and the quality to go with it!). We asked them to start fast after a few slower starts recently, and they really delivered. We pressed high, won the ball quickly, and used it brilliantly. Some really clinical finishing on show too!

Having a big lead early on brings different challenges—especially with the opposition adding an extra player for most of the game. But honestly, you wouldn’t have known. The boys stayed organised, disciplined and gave them no time on the ball.
A few special mentions:
⭐ Lucas – 5 goals! (Our highest ever in one game!)⭐ Zak – 4 goals and full of tenacity and quality all match.
Both boys worked incredibly hard and fully earned their rewards today.
At the back:
🛑 Josh was excellent—solid in the tackle, great positioning, and that triple save was unbelievable!⚽ Grayson took his goal so well and put in a big shift. Held his position, tackled hard, and kept trying to play forward.
Every single one of them contributed. A fantastic team performance from start to finish.
Onwards and upwards! Enjoy your weekends— I know I will! 😄

PS- We will work on team photos 🫣🤣

Well well well…

Now that I’ve finally had a chance to sit down and reflect, what a game that was yesterday!

At 3–0 down I honestly thought this post was going to be very short… and probably a lot less cheerful! 😅

We went 1–0 down in the first third which felt really harsh. We’d been the better team, had loads of possession and territory, and from their two chances they took one (a really good finish to be fair).

In the middle third they scored two quick goals — one quality, one a little soft — both from the same lad, and suddenly it looked like a long way back. But then we sparked into life with two brilliant goals, both created by Lucas on the right, who was excellent all game. 🙌 By the end of that third we’d somehow turned it around and were 4–3 up!

The final third was just as chaotic. They equalised, but the boys didn’t panic, kept playing their football, and scored more great goals to take control again. And I have to give a huge shout‑out to Alton — what a performance in goal! It honestly felt like a personal battle between him and their striker at times, and he would not be beaten. 🙌❤️🙌

With Jack, it’s always a balancing act. After our usual post‑match chat about the bits to work on (joking… kind of… 😆🙈), I was genuinely delighted with him. He battled, picked passes, took shots when they were on, and moaned at me every time I subbed him🤣. 8th birthday celebrations don't get much better than scoring 4 goals, a team win against tough opposition and laser quest with your mates. Wish us luck for his 9th birthday 🫣🤣.

But truly — so proud of all the boys today. To be 3–0 down against a very strong team and not one head dropped, no blaming, no sulking… just hard work, belief, and proper team spirit.
We’re building something special here. 🙌❤️🙌
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Another game, another chance to sit back and appreciate just how much progress these boys are making every single week.

Today’s opposition played some really tidy passing football and had a proper out‑and‑out striker, which gave our lads a completely different challenge to figure out. And they did figure it out. Really proud of how they adapted.

Some of the football we played was genuinely excellent. The boys kept the ball, lifted their heads, picked their passes… we were only a finish away a couple of times from scoring some brilliant team goals.

But no dwelling on the ones that got away, because the goals we did score were superb!

• Oliver’s first‑time finish from Lucas’ pass
• Jack’s first‑time finish from Zak’s pass
• Two absolute rockets from Alton (the second nearly broke the goal frame!)
• And Lucas rounding it off with a lovely strike from distance

Hard not to give a special mention to the birthday boy, Oliver — not just for scoring the opener, but for playing in every position today and making a positive impact in all of them.

Josh was a rock at the back, read the game brilliantly, won his battles, and passed it calmly — including one outrageous first‑time left‑foot pass across his own box under pressure (definitely not something me and Coach Gary Ingham have been drilling into him 😂).

And Alton’s two finishes… exactly what we see from him every week in training. Whenever we do shooting drills, I try to make sure Gary or another parent has to go in goal against him — the opposition keeper today didn’t get that luxury! 😂

Big game next week against the Xmas Cup runners‑up. We’ve played them twice before — one win each — so it should be a cracker.

Finally, sending all our love and best wishes to Ellie, Oliver’s mum, who’s currently in hospital bringing the newest member of the Sale U6 class of 2031/32 into the world (if my maths is right 😂). We’re all thinking of you and can’t wait to meet the little one on the sidelines soon!

Enjoy your weekends, team.

Match report time team…

And with yesterday being February the 14th I feel there should be a certain theme to the match report… I absolutely LOVED the performance overall!

We started slowly in all three thirds (felt like being in a long term relationship and people were taking things for granted) - we were a bit stand off-ish (like a first time tinder date… I imagine…! 🤷‍♂️😂🙈) but was delighted with how we progressed as the game went on.

Positionally… I felt we were a lot better than recently and thought when we were proactive and tried to play in their half and win the ball higher up the field we caused them real problems.

Some of the combination play was excellent and if I was a little unkind about the goals last week (fairly on reflection… 😀) I genuinely thought today’s were top drawer; Jack’s first time finish from Lucas’ cut back was excellent. I fully expected him to finish his second chance which he did and did well. Zak was so alive for his goal and finished it brilliantly (after sending most of their team “to the shops” - thank you Dean Shepley 😂) and Lucas scoring last kick of the game from 25 yards (or the comparative for 5-a-side… 😆) with his swinger… 😍

Really pleased with everyone and the progress we’re all making! Also loved that all of the boys wanted to stay for an ad hoc penalty shoot out at the end ❤️🖤.

It's concerning but ultimately amazing the impact a positive performance from the boys has on my weekend! 😂🙈😂

Big love ❤️❤️❤️ and enjoy the rest of your weekend team

I wrote this before Jack and I headed to ! If Cov had shown as much fight, tenacity and heart our boys did I’d have been absolutely buzzing.

Playing in with no subs is brutal — physically because the boys never get a breather, and mentally because there’s no chance to reset or freshen things up. But honestly, I’m so proud of the spirit they showed. They battled right to the end for each other.

And the scenes after that last‑minute equaliser… the boys celebrated like they’d just won the FA Cup! That joy is exactly why we do this ❤️

As for the game itself, it was tight and really competitive. Felt like we had more of the territory and plenty of shots — rushed a few, and somehow managed to score some of the worst goals I’ve ever seen 😂😂😂 We’ll take every one of them though!

We conceded a couple of soft ones too, and being a bit more decisive defensively — especially on the absolute graveyard that is pitch 5 — will make life easier. After the last few weeks, surely we’ve earned a show pitch by now 😆

Two final thoughts: come on … and ❤️🖤

Another game today and one I really enjoyed — it felt like a real marker of the progress the boys are making 💪⚽️

It was scrappy at times and we had to battle to earn the right to play, but when the moments of quality came, they came from us. The opposition changed things in the final third, going more direct and physical, which gave the boys a new problem to solve. There were a few scary moments, but they adapted brilliantly and found the solutions — and the extra goals our performance deserved.

So many positives across the team: Grayson’s goal, Josh’s tackling, Zay’s driving runs down the wing… but I thought Lucas made the difference today. A beautifully taken first goal, a great assist for Grayson, and then a second to put the game to bed 👏

Top of the table next week and I can’t wait — just wish it wasn’t another 7 days away! 😂
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, team 💙
