Moray Golf Club Chrome Series. After visiting Moray Golf Club last year I couldn’t wait to get back to the 36 hole seaside links course just 40 mins east of Inverness.

The course sits next to Lossiemouth RAF base and a massive attraction of playing golf here is being able to witness what flys above. Midweek Monday to Friday you will see all sorts of military aircraft however when the Typhoons fly over you will know about it.

Aside from the jets there is two amazing courses here clad with Gorse and wedged between the airport and the sea. The view from the clubhouse is a great one being on prominent ground you can see a lot of the course out in front of you.

I played some good stuff this week and it’s been nice of late to get a scorecard back in my hand after a few years of very little competition.

Icing on the cake was seeing my mate shoot an unbelievable 59 12 under par on day 1 and following it up with a 68 on day 2 to take the title of Northern Open Champion on 15 under par. Well played incredible.

Well worth a visit if you are in the area, Moray is known as the driest place in Scotland for anyone worried that the weather might be bad when you get there.

Real Club Seville Golf
18 🇪🇸 100 🇪🇺

Opening in 1991 RCSG is well known for being a Jose Olazabal design course and what treat it was to play.

Known widely for its excellent fairway and glass like greens it is a great test of golf so much so they have played the Spanish open here as recently as 2010 where Alvaro Quito’s came out on top.

The course is relatively flat and quite open, hidden bunkers on the fairways and around the greens make it a good strategic test, with a par of 72, 4 par 5s and 4 par 3s of which some play over 250 from the tips.

The practice area is one of the best I have seen on my travels, floodlit and big enough to accommodate plenty of golfers, if it was at my daily disposal you’d struggle to get me off it.

As with a lot of clubs in Spain tennis padel pickleball and an amazing swimming pool make it not just about the golf here. These areas are a great way to enjoy the heat of the hottest city in Europe, it got to 34 degrees yesterday and we are still only mid April, last year in the height of summer temps got to 48 degrees so choose your tee times wisely.

Seville is another Royal course presumably this was granted by the king of Spain, a great accolade for such a prestigious venue.

Terras da Comporta Dunas Course, Portugals top ranked golf course and it’s easy to see why, this is the 5th hole uphill par 4 dogleg right and is a glimpse into what this place looks like.
You will rarely see anyone else when you play here as every hole is its own. One of the most tranquil places I’ve played the game…

Berlin in a day with delivering our Simbox for the ITB Berlin the worlds leading travel convention, the request came in at 10.30 Sunday night, the simbox was hand delivered for 9.30am the following day. Customer reassured on sim and setup and later that day had it up and running on her own in under an hour.
Fantastic work Britta 👏 if you are interested in having a golf sim setup for your next trade convention or in your showroom as a great way of engaging with clients feel free to give the team at golfbays a shout.

Yas Links Abu Dhabi
1 🇦🇪

On arriving at Yas links I finally made it to the number 1 rated course in the UAE and what a treat it was to play it from the tips in tournament conditions in the Pro am.

Having been in the glitz and glamour of Dubai for a couple of days before hand I found Abu Dhabi to be much more refined laid back and chilled, the clubhouse representing more of a European vibe and wouldn’t be unsuited if it was in a vine yard in France or Spain.

The Kyle Phillips designed course stretches to just under 7500 yards and has 5 different tees for each hole, 8 holes also play along the waters edge and offer thrilling golf with classic risk and reward shots.

As with a lot of the golf in the UAE in peak season the tee times can often be a shot Gun start and we faced one of the best holes to get our round under way, the 17th par 3 measuring 204 yards it’s a pretty daunting start where left short and long are all dead.

The par 3s at yas are all exceptional and 3 of the 4 are as close to the water as you will find anywhere. It’s also different to the other courses in the UAE in the fact that it’s on the coastline and plays like an American links, big Marren grasses line the fairways with fantastic KP designed bunkering and green complexes which will test your yardages at every point.

I lost 3 balls in my round and made birdie with my second ball 3 times, it’s that sort of course where you wish you had two attempts at every shot, it can bring the best out of you but also the worst if you allow it to ☺️

Aswell as the par 3s being class I loved the 9th par 4 469 yards and the par 5 656 yard 18th holes both brutes, both on the water and both testing your mental strength and composure from start to finish.

The resort has an amazing Floodlit par 3 course and practice green with double ended driving range and music while you practice 🎵 👌

It also sits next to Ferrari world and the amazing Yas Marina circuit which we visited after play. Fact…. You can ride a bike or run around the circuit for free every day up untill 9pm, we missed this but won’t next time ☺️

Green fees around £250.

It’s not all Golf, a little trip up to Nazare, an hour and a half north of Lisbon to see the 8th wonder of the world. Nazare is home to the biggest waves on the planet, we managed to visit twice and decided to stay in the town overnight, the waves were reaching around 30 feet high. There was talk in the town that this week they could see the 100 footer, can’t even imagine what seeing that would be like, one things for sure I’d plan a trip to Portugal just to watch the big wave surfers do there thing.
