Definitely the icing on the cake after a fantastic weekend for the Yanagi Kai squad. The elusive gold medal for Kaito Hawkins in the under 14 years kata at the WKF Youth League in Porec Croatia 🇭🇷

We have felt this has been coming over the last six months with all the work with Sensei Kelly, coaches and team mates back at Sale Dojo. To be honest I can only see him getting stronger now he knows he can do it.

Congratulations to Chris and Masako his parents, for all their sacrifices, I know your proud of both your boys.

Buzzing, fantastic result 👏

Hopefully Chris will get next weekend off from travelling 😁

Well the boys gone and done it again! Another podium finish at a Karate Youth league for Theo Langhorn. A bronze medal finish in the male under 21 kata, this time in Porec Croatia.

This is now his fourth medal at this elite level and is vastly becoming one of our best prospects in English karate.

Keep working hard and the accolades will keep coming and most importantly enjoy the journey.

Another weekend of competition for the Yanagi Kai squad, this time competing at the Central England Karate Championships.

This is one of the bigger events in the domestic calendar and one of the best organised competitions, well done Sensei Stennett Harvey and the Icon team.

The Yanagi Kai machine grinds on with more success finishing second in the overall medal table. 11 gold🥇, 8 sliver🥈 and 8 bronze🥉, not a bad days work.

Well done all👏👏

Massive well done to all the Yanagi Kai squad members who competed at the Polish Open International Grand Prix this weekend. One of the tougher club events on the international calendar.

A huge congratulations to Theo Langhorn on day one, winning double gold in both under 21 and senior kata events. Eleven rounds of kata over two sections, unbelievable mental and physical strength💪

Then the icing on the cake on day two, gold for our emerging star Paloma Tsang in the 9 years kata. This girl seems to be getting stronger week by week and the most contagious smile 😁

Well done to all who competed, vital competition experience gained 👏

Finally thanks to Sensei Kelly for coaching and arranging the trip.

Unbelievable success yesterday at the Cumbrian OpenKarateChampionships. Huge congratulations to all who competed and once again massive thanks to coaches and parents we really appreciate all your support. 👏👏

With only three Sale Dojo athletes attended the Scottish International Karate Open on Saturday we still managed five podium finishes, unbelievable achievement.

Double gold for Tahlia Blake in the under 21 years -55kg kumite and open weight. Theo Langhorn also double gold in the junior and seniors kata, David Brierley winning the bronze, also in the senior kata.

Great performances guys👏

The Sale Dojo machine continues next weekend at the Cumbrian Open, best of luck to all who are attending.

Massive appreciation to all the home nations for attending the Yanagi Kai Open Championships yesterday in Manchester. With just shy of six hundred competitors it's one of the biggest events our association have ever hosted. We were a little apprehensive as this was the first time we have ran a six tatami at this venue, but it seemed to work.

There has been quite a lot of negativity over the last six months in English Karate so it's just nice to meet up with like minded people and participate in something that we all love. It's so important that we don't forget that!

Brilliant job as usual from our table officials and referees, a thankless task, but the most important job for the smooth running of the competition.

Final thanks to all athletes and parents, such a high standard of competition, we all shouldbeproud.
