Karate provides all of the good things that you would want for any child,
a caring atmosphere in which to meet new friends, build self esteem,
self confidence, self discipline, respect for themselves and others,
a very enjoyable way to become flexible and keep fit. It exercises both body and mind and I know of no other sport that
provides so much benefit to children and adults alike.

With only three Sale Dojo athletes attended the Scottish International Karate Open on Saturday we still managed five podium finishes, unbelievable achievement.

Double gold for Tahlia Blake in the under 21 years -55kg kumite and open weight. Theo Langhorn also double gold in the junior and seniors kata, David Brierley winning the bronze, also in the senior kata.

Great performances guys๐Ÿ‘

The Sale Dojo machine continues next weekend at the Cumbrian Open, best of luck to all who are attending.

Massive appreciation to all the home nations for attending the Yanagi Kai Open Championships yesterday in Manchester. With just shy of six hundred competitors it's one of the biggest events our association have ever hosted. We were a little apprehensive as this was the first time we have ran a six tatami at this venue, but it seemed to work.

There has been quite a lot of negativity over the last six months in English Karate so it's just nice to meet up with like minded people and participate in something that we all love. It's so important that we don't forget that!

Brilliant job as usual from our table officials and referees, a thankless task, but the most important job for the smooth running of the competition.

Final thanks to all athletes and parents, such a high standard of competition, we all shouldbeproud.

Thank you all๐Ÿ™

Whow!

What a buzz last night in the dojo. Huge thanks to Sensei Jason Netherton of Ippon Karate Academy for arranging Sale Dojo to host the legend that is Sensei Junior Lefevre.

Sensei Junior is a former World Champion in both kata and kumite and is one of the worlds most respected coaches around.

An unbelievable couple of sessions working with our younger members in the first lesson then through to our elite fighters in the second.

Some of the technical advice he relayed to are athletes will be invaluable going forward. I know I learnt a couple of new tricks and will be bringing a couple of his drills into our sessions.

I know the positive feedback I've had already from athletes and parents, we'll definitely be trying to book him for next year.

Watch this space!

Fantastic way to spend the Easter weekend at the Scottish Grand Prix ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ with the Yanagi Kai squad.

Huge congratulations to all who competed today and once again noted that our younger members are taking most of the load.

Some outstanding performances from our young squad members and with this commitment they will only get stronger going forward ๐Ÿ’ช

Training in the dojo and at courses will only take you so far, you all need mat time to work out your flaws. You've only got to look at the most successful teams at the minute and their application, hence why we will compete more north of the border this year.

Third in the medal table is not too shabby, happy coaches ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well done everyone and thank you all for your support.

This was the first time at for myself at Sunderland Stadium of Light, fantastic venue and a brilliant organisation competition from Carl, Amy and their team.

Two and a half hour driver and the clock forward an hour, just a little out of my comfort zone.

As always the squad performance was outstanding, especially our newbies, George Blackburn, Williams, Raghu, and Morgan Parmar at their first open event, great effort guys.

ร—7 gold๐Ÿฅ‡ x4 silver๐Ÿฅˆ x9 bronze๐Ÿฅ‰ I think ๐Ÿค”

Competitor of the day had to go to one of our newest members of the Yanagi kai squad Om Gundkal winning five medals on his own. ๐Ÿ‘‹

Well done to all who competed at the North East Open. Next up Scotland over Easter Bank holiday ๐Ÿ‘Š
