It’s been a tough few months personally, recreationally, professionally.

Now ‘OoO’ for 2wks and escaping to Italy next week; I decided to crack open my Limited Edition Loch Lomond Malts Open Championship.

Looking forward to reacquainting myself with this taste, as when I tried it at Royal Birkdale, I fell in love with it.

Social Media posts aren’t always about the best shots or the ‘lucky’ shots we pull off as amateur golfers.
If I have a bad’un I’m happy to share these, as well as the average and the good rounds.

And well, as you can see, this one Crosland Heath Golf Club was definitely one of the bad ones’

It was a rare opportunity to get out and play due to commitments impacting my social and recreational time - in fact its only my 4th full round since 1st June 😮

Nothing and I mean NOTHING felt comfortable out there with my game!
From the nearly skied tee shot on the 1st, to shanking back to back chips mid way through the round, to taking 4 shots to get out of a bunker (not like me) which resulted in a 10 on the 3rd - everything was off including course management and my Golf IQ with short game sorry Daniel Grieve

However, not once did I loose my temper, get moody or loose focus. Every shot I played with 100% commitment which is probably the only positive I can take. Having said that having 100% commitment on a bad strategy never results in 100% success 😂

A HUGE shout out to the boy Ben Davies - his patience for the round, with how bad I hacked it, was exemplary and him keeping me focused and lighthearted was just a class act. With comments after the 3rd hole of “Par in?” making me laugh uncontrollably at that point 😂

Also shout out to Hansongeorge2005 who suggested I take up Tennis, which right now, I don’t think i could hit straight 😂😂😂

Crosland Health was just fabulous to play. I hadn’t played there in a few years, but walked it earlier this year for the 2020protour
The Greens were just outstanding considering the Heatwave; no real sign of weathering at all. The fairways are like I expected, playing firm, fast and sun snogged (deffo not kissed) - it’s was like playing a links but on a hill top 😂 . The course and its condition at the moment is a true testament to the hard working green staff who Ben and I saw all around the course, whilst we played, doing watering maintenance in the areas they could.

It’s a course I’ll never bore of playing and still makes me think I should have joined as a Country Member a few years ago. Thanks for having us!

A little cheeky Nearest the Pin challenge today

Possibly the best swing I’ve put on an iron all season 😂😂😂
Big thanks to .aspinall for filming this - top man!

Deffo a Holster Club kinda day!

But when the sun is out, and I’m on a great course like , I really don’t care how often I’ve to be creative around the greens.

Makes it all the more fun 🏌🏻

Great day, great company, great laughs with great humans and at times; great golf!

I finally got to play Abergele Golf Club in Wales today.

It’s course I’ve wanted to play for years and has a stunning back drop of the 19th Century Folly of Gwrych Castle, where I’m A Celebrity Get Me Outta Here was filmed during Covid.

For just a £35 green fee it was truly a bargain and played so so well with every hole being tree lined but very fair in most places, with good sized Fairway widths.

As I found, if you got out of position, bad scores happen, as I proved with a 7 and two 8’s on the card. But matched with three Birdie’s in the round, two other Birdie chances that bullet burned the hole and a near H-I-O!

But what pleased me the most out of the entirety of the round is my Arccos Stats show my Short Game playing ability was that of a +5 golfer with strokes gained of +3.3 for the round.

It’s a course I intend to come back and play a lot!

Not much golf has been played over the last 6wks due to work and family commitments, but it was great to be back out playing and on a new course for me also.

There’s something about playing different/new courses regularly that really makes me excited to play.
Something to think about come the end of the season, that’s for sure.

Thanks for a top day lads!

Great day yesterday down at our new venue of .

Super cool catching up with friends who we hadn’t seen in 12 months and gutting at the same time that our close friends .horn & couldn’t make it. But the way we saw it, we were just warming up the place for when the Three Amigo’s return in 2027!

We were in the prizes with a 4th place finish in the team event, and I won an Addidas Golf Bag Travel Cover worth £160 in the raffle and the Silent Auction for a 4 ball

The weather was SCORCHIO and the course obviously played firm and bouncy with a cheeky breeze to keep you thinking out there.

It’s the first 12 hole facility I’ve played and I have to say, it was refreshing and a hell of a lot of fun! Plus on that temperature, and the size of the field, 12 holes was a good number, but there was an optional comp to go out again in a 6 hole Scramble.

As always, the hard work and effort put in by & never goes unnoticed, especially by .golf and myself.
THAN YOU!
This year the charity was for British Heart Foundation and we all fully respect that choice. It’ll be great to see just how much we raised in the next week or so, for such a deserving charity.

Thanks to the staff at Mad Swans as well. Over 100 golfers all in at one go was no doubt bonkers for them, especially with us all wanting the AMAZING Pizza’s, followed by b**r, w**e, c***r and in Shona and my case, Japanese Wh***ey 😂

It’s a facility I intend to return to, before next year’s event, that’s for certain! If you’re down near South Bristol, it’s worth a visit for sure!

Thank you for the Electrolytes!

What a great product and in 25° temps today for the , the Blood Orange flavour was VERY much needed for the round and really helped me!

I’d never tried electrolytes before, so I was dubious as to how they work and do they hold the properties that companies claim.
I’m very very happy with the outcome and felt great with having them.

I’ll deffo be buying some of these! Worth a try folks!

🚨 .tour At Sand Moor GC Results 🚨

WOWSER that was tough but absolutely brilliant all at the same time.
What a stunning Golf Course is.
In the same area at Alwoodly & Moor Town, it’s certainly holds its own.

Green speeds at a whopping 12.5 on the stimp certainly made you think when doing your approaches, chipping and certainly putting.
-2 gross for the Pro’s, around a tricky course was a very honest score and 33pts in The Amateur League showed how much the course bit into you.

For me, I just couldn’t swing the club to save my life, with probably only 4 or 5 good shots of the day, short game was deffo a Golf IQ issue with a few poor club choices when around the green - putting wise, well that’s was shocking with 40 putts.

24pts don’t cut the mustard sadly, and a 93 gross adjusted from 95 showed how much I struggled.
However I’ll deffo be back this summer to get revenge with & 😂

Golf really confuses me 😂😂😂

Somehow, despite playing garbage on Friday (+11 Gross 83), I managed to get another Hcp reduction making it 3 outta the last 4 that have created a drop. So that’s from 8.5 down to 7.8

Way I see it is with 35 putts (5x 3 putts 😮 not like me), but being -2 on the 4 Par3’s, despite me not feeling like I’m swinging well, actually means I’m playing better than I think. Which is testament to the work and tuition I’m getting from . What feels like my worst isn’t actually anything like it. And it’s nice to have that feeling now.

I’m still struggling with the feeling of getting the club laid off at the top still, like I had in our first lesson and I’ve randomly started hitting iron shots out the heel (no doubt caused by early extension and my hips thrusting forward again) but I’m somehow getting it round.

But I’ve got time to get these things worked on before my next comp on 1st June at Sand Moor GC.

Bring it on!!!!!
