The Saints 1s had their first fixture of the season which resulted in a 3-1 loss to the visitors Newry.
Despite the scoreline, it was a great first run out for many of the Saints not able to get involved over the Summer.
Holding Newry to 0-0 until the second half, Newry quickly took the lead in the 3rd Quarter and continued to go up 3-0 from short corner conversions.
The Saints responded well, putting Newry under a great deal of pressure, and taking one back for themselves in the final quarter through a short corner snuck in by defender W***y Heaney.
A shout out to W***y who had a stellar performance in defence, keeping Newry at bay and even taking a stick to the head. This and also taking ownership of the goal that was played in by the Newry defence, he takes this week's Man of the Match.
The men put in 110% which was great to see, a much more enjoyable game than the majority of least season with hopefully more like that to come!
With more game time and training, we will no doubt see the results start to turn our way again.
