Traditional Warriors Martial Arts

Traditional Warriors Martial Arts Running sessions for children (6yrs+) to adults in Aikido, Karate and Judo in North Cornwall.

The Traditional Warriors Martial Arts Association is an up and coming martial arts school which was founded in February 2017. We are always looking to connect with other groups and spread the great word of martial arts. It is run by Jack Procter, who has been training in martial arts since 1999. The association offer Aikido, Karate and Judo for all ages (6yrs+.) We are a friendly club looking to help each other improve not only our self defence and competition skills but life skills too.

Precision, control and power is what Kata takes, as the patterns have so many fighting details that to the unaware on looker it can just look like moves jammed together. Yet it is far from that, developed sequences of fighting knowledge.
The Warriors brought the fire to every move and roar to every shout, while hitting those strong stances and leaning in to those subtle changes. The audience was captivated in an air of silence as each Karate-ka stepped up - which takes tremendous courage to get up on their own with all eyes watching.
A few students have only just learnt their kata, meaning to step up on the big stage and perform it was a huge achievement on it’s own, let alone drop some of the best katas of the day.
We saw the basics of the early katas to the intricate details of black belt stage ones during the day, and trust me when I say “Wow!” I really do mean WOW!
All the students are working to such a high level and for some it is just the fact they are entering to put their art on show which amazes me!
From heavy punches to jumping Kiai’s (shouts) we saw it all today, so thank you for bringing the fire to what can be seen as a luke warm side to karate, thankfully you are all understanding the importance and true meaning of kata!
A brilliant afternoon which sets the Warriors on their way towards the next steps in their martial arts journey.
Thank you, Sensei Jack

Tremendous action yesterday morning as we saw our Judo Warriors battle it out at our annual Judo competition, where this ruleset focuses more on their throwing side of judo, compared to our Gi Grappling event.
Although numbers were down, which happens, those who were there made sure the action did not drop as well - as they kept it at 11 all the way through.
For some it was their first competition and I was blown away by their efforts, as they were never dismayed by losing or being thrown. Jumping straight back up trying to win the next point or match.
The Warriors always bring their hearts to these events and give so much of themselves to every fight, which show remarkable character.
Though this year we saw many more tactical ideas from those more seasoned to the competition tatami - which shows how much they are developing as martial artists.
As always the Warriors did themselves proud and showed how hard they are working each week, all while looking after each other and being humble in victory and defeat.
Thank you for the great ippons and effort Warriors!
Sensei Jack

Only night for training during half term is Monday evening.
My aim; to bring as many Judo, Karate and STRIKE warriors to train together as there’s no normal training.
In the session I’ll be focusing on a self defence position which can be used by all.
The position, how to defend yourself when you are on the ground and the attacker is stood up.
For those who don’t grapple, this is one of the best places to start with self defence. As it introduces grappling in an easy way.
If you can make it feel free to come along, if not, no worries at all.
You can wear a Gi, No Gi or something comfortable.
All details in the pic.

These Karate Warriors all smashed their grading today. As they weren’t able to make last week, but this didn’t make the grading any easier.
As usual they were put through their paces, but they all showed how great they are, and the hard work they have put in to their training.
Well done Warriors!

This was a strange one, not in a bad way (far from it), in a great way!
As the entire day felt like an exhibition of our hard work and months, possibly even a years worth for some, of training.
We did all the usual grading aspects and then started to show different aspects of the self defence work we have been developing.
Then I asked them to show me what you would do from this situation? Or how could this move be used in a real scenario?
Off they went, and I happily strolled round watching how much they truly understand their martial art. Which is amazing to see, as you can’t just learn this out of a book.
You have to embody being a martial artist.
It truly makes me proud to see the energy and spirit on the mats and how much work you have put in. It’s also great to see the spectators impressed by what their Warrior and the others can do!
Every single belt was truly earned, thank you Warriors for your continued effort, and the support from the parents.

Firstly, can you please wait until after the grading to pay. As then you will know if you are paying for a mon or full grade, depending on what they achieve.

Secondly, I am looking to grade 99% of the students as this is one of our only two gradings we have across the year.
So if you are unsure please ask. I’m even looking to grade all students in the junior (5:00-5:45pm) judo class.

Times of specific grading groups are up and Warriors only need to be there for their grading group, not for the entire event.

Parents are welcome to watch.

Thank you.

With grading for Judo and Karate just 3 weeks away (Saturday 22nd) we are putting on some extra classes.
All extra classes are at the usual dojo of St Teath Primary school.
Use “EXTRA” as the reference for online payments, or as always, cash if fine too.
The plan at the extra classes will be to focus on anything which students found difficult on the usual Monday/Tuesday class, plus any aspects we didn’t cover that week.
Therefore, getting to two classes each week will ensure you cover all grading aspects each week.
These classes will only run for the next 3 weeks, and will stop after the grading.
If you are unsure if you Warrior should attend, then please feel free to ask my advice.
(121 sessions are available as well.)
Hope to see you there for some extra training.
Sensei Jack
