We lift this years Fiona Bruce Community Shield.

St Ives 7 - Hellesveor 24

Great day, great rugby, great beer.

Unfortunately have had to call it early on our season due to half the lads forming a dance troupe for this years Britain’s Got Talent.

Maybe we’ll play another game in 3 years time.

Live, laugh, love, Gin lol

It’s game day!

The match is on. Get upto St Ives RFC and support the lads. It’s going to be helluva a day. Local rugby at its finest.

Gurnard’s Head

From Gurnard’s Head I stare
at a flawless day: the blues
of swirling azure, the deep
shades of a lapis sea.

I know this place – all
of its below, its beyond
– the ways it pivots.
I feel/fear nothing.

These granite rocks
are the gate-keepers
to the falling, the flying,
where I am left to float.

Tomorrow’s tummy tickler

The Hakes Vs The Gurnards

Hook, line and sink. Who’s gonna be hauled aboard and who’s going to sink. 3 sets of brothers and 15 cousins in this side.

Just a reminder to all supporters who are travelling for tomorrows away match, any violence towards the Scaley Backs will not be acceptable.

Game on!

Hellesveor RFC ‘The Gurnards’ Vs Hakes - St Ives RFC

Saturday 17th December at St Ives RFC. 1430 Kick Off.

Finally, after a long two years our doping ban is up and the team can return to playing matches. As a club we will continue our innocence and will stand by our statement. We were convinced the substance Clive ‘Chipper’ Tomkin sold us was baking powder and we have apologised numerous times to attendees of Hellesveor Youth Choir charity cake sale.

Back to the rugby. What a weekend for the club as we face local rival St Ives for a new trophy, this the first time the sides will battle for the ‘Fiona Bruce Community Shield’. Kindly donated by club sponsors Breakwater Decorating.

Unfortunately Hellesveor RFC’s former head of nutrition, Liam ‘Turncoat’ Trudgeon is playing for St Ives in this fixture. It was a mutual parting but Liam, please, we want our Nigella Cookbooks back with clean pages this time.

Team announcements tomorrow, lots of local faces retuning.

St Ives RFC have their annual Christmas jumper party after the match which we’ll be staying for.

Hellesveor RFC dinner and dance 1988

Two of the boys getting ready for tonight’s dinner and dance. We’ve decided to date it 1988 instead of 2022 as that’s where most of our supporters are stuck.

Up the Gurnards.

Return to training.

Thanks to the RFU moving to Phase C on the return to rugby framework we were able to welcome our players back to the club training facilities based in the quite suburbs of Trewartha.

This has meant 10 V 10 touch rugby can return, unfortunately we didn’t have enough players turn up to training to allow this to happen, which is very unfortunate as we are preparing for our first friendly Vs Sancreed 2’s when restrictions allow.

**Can all players make very effort to attend, we understand some aren’t allowed due to the training pitch being in a play park but that’s only 4-5 of you.**

*Notice to all players*
Due to our head nutritionist Liam Trudgeon becoming unavalible we will not be able to offer our full prepared menu after training sessions. We apologise for this inconvenience.

Liam hasn’t surfaced after going for his 4th ‘eat out to help out’ meal of the day. He was last seen outside the ferrets shaking his head, probably due to his heart being split in half. On one side the Three Ferrets is no more, on the other side it’s going to be a curry house. Catch 22.

See you all training Wednesday.

Club Statement 02/04/2020.

Due the Coronavirus situation our league position for next year is as yet undecided.

The ARSE (Association of Rugby in Southern England) has decided the season null void. With our first XV winning 69 out of 69 games and at top of the table we felt this unfair. We know the ARSE Chairman, a Mr Havey Ayle has never been fond of the club.

After a long meeting the club’s committee have raised this to the Prejudice and Equitable side of the National Institute of Sport (P***S).

We are awaiting a response but it seems the P***S is unable to probe the ARSE at this current time.

Mr H Ayle was unable to comment.

Updates will follow.

NEW SIGNING PHIL ‘BARNEY’ STEVENS SCORES IN FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON FOR THE GURNARDS

The first game of season seen a dramatic win for the Gurnards beating Sancreed RFC 31-5. The solitary try for Sancreed being an own try by Barney Stevens with his first and only touch of the ball. To say we were confused would of been an understatement as we didn’t realise it was possible, but then again Sam Pellow losing his virginity happened so anything is indeed possible.

The match went with out a hitch and great performance for both teams. Sancreed had every man living in Sancreed available for the match but still meant there was only 14.

It should be noted it was also the first outing on Sancreeds new pitch which is on the south facing hill by the reservoir, the duly named ‘Sancreed Community Stadium’ really lived up to it’s the name with the rest of the community, Lesley and Mavis, turning up to watch.
