There’s this idea that getting fit has to take over your life.
That it means early mornings, strict routines, cutting things out, and constantly pushing yourself. And for a lot of people, that’s exactly why it never sticks. It becomes something you try for a few weeks, rather than something that actually becomes part of your life.
Because the reality is, most people are already busy. Work, family, commitments… there’s already a lot going on. So when fitness feels like another pressure, another demand, or something you have to be “all in” on, it’s always going to be the first thing to drop when life gets full.
Now, of course, if you’ve got a specific goal or an event you’re working towards, there will be times when you need to be more focused. That’s part of it. But for most people, most of the time, fitness needs to fit around life, not take it over.
You don’t need to train every day. You don’t need to be perfect. And you don’t need to change everything overnight. What actually works is building something that feels realistic, flexible, and sustainable.
That’s where progress starts to feel easier. And more importantly, that’s what makes it last.
If you’ve been trying to get back into a routine but nothing seems to stick, it might not be you - it might just be that the approach hasn’t been right for your lifestyle.
