ANOTHER VICTORY FOR ST IVES LADIES A TEAM
The St Ives Ladies first team continued their winning streak with a 9-3 home victory over Truro B in the Cornwall LTA Summer League’s Division One West.
They have now won four in a row after losing their opening match of the season.
Steffi Apicella and Ruby Hampson (pictured) once again took both their rubbers in straight sets, winning 6-3, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1.
Carolyn Brown and Millie Millard had to battle for their points as two close encounters were both decided on championship tie-breaks after the opening two sets had been shared.
Coming through against the Truro second pair but losing out to the first pair, they did enough to put St Ives 7-3 ahead on sets and also secure the two winning bonus points.

ANOTHER WIN FOR ST IVES LADIES B AS THE REGULARS RETURN
With a full squad to choose from, following the "regulars" tennis trip to Portugal, St Ives Ladies second team continued their successful season with an 8-2 away victory over Redruth B.
Annette Mcavoy and Netty Macleod took both their rubbers in straight sets, winning 6-3, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-4.
A 6-0, 6-3 win from Lou King and Julia Robinson ensured victory - and secured the two winning bonus points although Redruth won the remaining rubber in the Cornwall LTA Supper League Division Two West clash.

CLOSE CALL FOR ST IVES LADIES B AS PENZANCE EDGE TO VICTORY
St Ives Ladies second team, playing without five of their regular squad for the second time in three days, suffered a narrow home defeat against the Penzance fifth team in Division Two West of the Cornwall LTA Summer League.
The Penzance first pair of Rachel Thomas and Nishi Visuakingam won both their rubbers in straight sets.
St Ives taking the other two rubbers with Annette McVey and Amy Robson beat the Penzance second pair 6-1, 6-0.
Jane Liddicoat and Jocelyn Copley were taken to three sets before winning the deciding champions tie-break 10-8 but the first set secured by Elaine Bassett and Suzy Sinclair was enough to edge Penzance 5-4 ahead on sets to also claim the two winning bonus points in a 7-4 success.
But, with the regulars away on a tennis break in Portugal, the much-changed team’s 14 points from a possible 20 from two matches showed the strength in depth of the St Ives Ladies.

CLOSE ENCOUNTER AS ST IVES LADIES A MAKE IT THREE WINS ON THE TROT
St Ives Ladies first team squeezed to victory by just two games as their visit to Penzance C was decided on a countback.
St Ives, trailing 4-1 on sets at the halfway stage, battled back to level at 5-5 and prevailed 42-40 on games to secure the two winning bonus points in the Cornwall LTA Summer League Division One West encounter.
All four rubbers were keenly contested with St Ives first pair Steffi Apicella and Ruby Hampson overcoming Linda Randall and Kelda McNeil 7-6, 6-3 after losing the deciding champions tie-break to Vicky Reid and Dolores Wright in their opener.
Carolyn Brown and Gill Stainton bounced back from a 6-3, 7-6 loss against Randall and McNeil to share the opening two sets 6-4, 4-6 with Meade and Wright before clinching the 10-point shoot-out for the team's third successive victory after losing their opening match of the season.

ST IVES LADIES B WIN AGAIN
St Ives Ladies second team made it two wins from three matches this season with an 8-2 home victory over Falmouth B in the Cornwall LTA Summer League's Division Two West.
Gill Stainton and Kathryn Wotton recorded a 6-2, 6-2 victory and were handed their other rubber due to an injury to one of the Falmouth players.
The injury came with St Ives pair Lou King and Netty Macleod's opening rubber poised on a knife edge as the led 5-2 in the second set after Falmouth had taken the first 7-6.
Lou and Netty took the first set 7-5 in their second rubber before bad light intervened, with the teams splitting the final unplayed two sets.

A BRIGHT START AHEAD OF THE NEW SEASON
Sun and smiles at St Ives Tennis Club’s pre-season members American tournament, won by Jocelyn and Rob, clutching their prize bottles!!!
This season, for the first time, our club will be fielding five teams in the Cornwall LTA Leagues.
Following last season’s introduction of a third St Ives men’s team - who finished top of Division Two West to win promotion to Div One West –we are reviving our Ladies second team this season as we reflect the growing strength in depth of our playing resources.
The Men’s first team, who finished third in the Premier Division last season after narrowly avoiding relegation 12 months earlier with a crucial last-match win, will be aiming to continue their improvement.
The Men’s B team, who narrowly missed out on the Division One West title, were last week promoted to the County Division anyway after Redruth informed the league that they would be unable to fulfil their scheduled fixtures.
