It’s a real pity when people would rather see a space sit empty and go to ruin than allow children to use it. Bitter? Absolutely! But if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that when one door closes, another one opens — and what a door this is!!! ✨

We’re so excited to move into our new home and start an amazing partnership with Saints Foundation 💙 A place with community and children at their very heart, just like us.

Onwards and upwards — the future is looking brighter than ever! 💫

Thank you to St Helens Council for doing everything you could to keep us at Darby and Joan. Your support meant the world to our dancers and their families.

Sooooo… from next week we will have classes in our new venue on Alinson Street.

Along with a new venue we will also have a new partnership with Saints Foundation!!!! 😲😲😲

To say I am relieved is a huge understatement. The stress we have had over finding a new room after the agreement we had with Darby and Joan fell through has been immense.

Well, we no longer need to worry about it. We have the perfect space with a quiet floor for tap, high ceilings for twirl and a real carpark!!!!

We will also be included in all things Saints, including free tickets to the matches for dancers and so much more!!

We will start in our new venue week commencing 29th Sept with a new timetable.

Reason to celebrate?!!! I think sooooo!!!! 🥂

Studio 626 Update

Firstly, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has messaged, shared posts, and offered support over the past few weeks. I know I haven’t been able to reply to every message — there were so many, and my priority has had to be on doing everything possible to keep the building open for our dancers. Please know that every comment, share and kind word has meant the world.

I’m pleased to share that we are now working closely with members of the council and the Parr Darby & Joan team to find a long-term solution that supports our dance school.

Thanks to ongoing discussions and collaboration, we’ve been able to secure a six-month delay to any immediate changes. This gives us valuable time to plan, explore options, and work together towards a future that protects our young dancers and respects the legacy of the Darby & Joan community.

Thank you for standing with us — we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

📣 An Open Letter from Studio 626 📣

It’s with a heavy heart and deep concern that I share this message today.

We have been given notice to vacate our premises by this Wednesday. With no conversation from the council and no time to prepare, I fear our worst nightmare has come true.

ST HELENS COUNCIL HAS OFFERED US NOTHING.

This is a devastating blow—not just for me, but for our students, who are just days away from competition next Sunday and weeks away from exams. Right now, we face the very real prospect of having nowhere to rehearse or prepare.

For two months, we have repeatedly asked for a conversation with someone from the council to find a solution but they have ignored us . Several dates were offered to us this week, but due to my full-time job as a high school teacher, the earliest we could commit to was 8th July. We had hoped to be allowed to stay at our current premises until then.

But that hope has now been taken from us.

💔 This isn’t just a building to us—it’s a second home. A safe space. A place where dancers grow in confidence, skill, and friendship.

We currently have 72 dancers aged 2-47 on our registers, who all risk losing friendships, their hobby and their future careers in the arts.

🙏 I am pleading for someone—anyone—to step in. Help us find a way to stay, so our dancers don’t suffer the consequences of rushed decisions and poor communication.

Please share this post. Help us be heard.
