Today something different, as I'm trying desperately but failing to give up sidecar racing due to Amelia wanting to race, and her brother Jenson when he's old enough. (Please let me stop). 😭 Jenson and I did our powerboat racing licence, because thats what I want to do, and Jenson fancied a go too.

What a great day, Bill a veteran powerboat racer was looking after us, and after my first session he thought I'd done this before and was really impressed, I did have a great day and got faster as the day went on.

Jenson surprised us all because he was fantastic, even Amelia was amazed at how well he was doing. His boat was very lively due to being set up for someone heavier and taller, and yet he still had his foot on the floor, they were amazed, so were we! ❀️ As he wasn't quite tall enough to reach the throttle pedal and it didn't have any adjustment, they said they would put a block of wood on the pedal, but... No one could reach it or fit in to do it. Que Jenson, he was the only one small enough. (See photos). 😁

There were some delays, for example a Formula 2 powerboat with V8 outboard motor worth 170k flipped during testing and did a full 360! It was an amazing sight, even more so as the driver was ok, the carbon fibre boat not so much. As me and Jenson were absolutely smashing it, they asked if we minded missing our last session on the water so others could finish their training so we did.

All in all a fantastic and positive day, we both loved it. We have to compete in a race in order to complete our training, so we'll hopefully be doing that on the 5th September. Bring it on! 😁🏁🏁

Race report!
Darley Moor 9/8/26

Well what a good do!

We went out for qualifying which apart from going straight over the grass on the first chicane it went ok, it was ok because its not my first rodeo where that chicane is concerned, so I'm some what of an expert, didn't even have to shut off, bit bumpy though. πŸ˜† We qualified 3rd overall, 2nd F2.

Race 1.
We got boxed in on the start and quite a few got past us. (Bastards! 😁) Anyhoo, I did what I've done quite a few times this year in similar situations and I went straight into the first corner way too hot, out braked myself, locked up, went wide and came out of the corner on the grass. πŸ˜† All but two other teams got past us, Amelia did an amazing job of holding on as usual while I tried my best to keep it the right way up. 😁

So that left us playing catch up bigtime, which luckily I love and as you've seen from previous race meetings, I'm pretty good at. We managed to get to 4th place overall when the checkered flag came out, one more lap and it would probably of been 3rd, but we were 2nd F2.

Race 2.
We got a slightly better start, but it was still s**t, so we went into the 1st corner in 4th overall, but we quickly got 2nd and stayed there for most of the race but on about lap 6 of 8 we got passed on the straight by an F1 with a 1000cc in it and although I kept with it, I couldn't get back past it. So we finished 3rd overall, but 2nd F2.

So we had two 2nd places in our class, which puts 18 points in the lead of the F2 Championship over Richard Butler and Derek Taylor, Derek use to be my passenger many years ago, he wasn't on with Richard today though as he's abit worse for wear after an incident at East Fortune recently, Andrew Miller was in the chair with Richard today.

Also we got a new PB and Amelia got her 7th signature towards her National licence, 3 more to go. 😁🏁🏁

So it was a fun and successful meeting, bit warm though. 😊

Thanks to all the medical staff, marshals and everyone else that makes it all happen.

Thanks to,
Joe Heys.
Ant Eades of Green Ant Racing.
David Hammond of Seymour Sign and Print.
Mike Pepper.
John Chandler.

And everyone that came for a chat, and all you lovely people that support our team and page, we really appreciate it. πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ‘

Massive thanks to Anthony Eades of Green Ant Racing, he looks after my engines, and takes Jenson shooting at his club.

I rang him last Sunday to tell him how we got on at Aintree, I told him the clutch was slipping and I was going to change it, he said leave it, I'll do it at Darley on Saturday night, and he has. Top man, I'm very grateful for all he does for the team. 😁🏁🏁

On the way back from getting our gear scruttineered, we saw Jenson driving and his mum pushing Ant Eades F1. 😁

This weekend see's us at Darley Moor once again, for round 5 of 8 of the Darley Moor sidecar championship. Hopefully we'll get some good finishes and another signature towards Amelia's national race licence. After that we have a 6 week break in racing until we once again return to Darley Moor. I for one am looking forward to the break, I have lots of things I want to do instead so I'm looking forward to that, next weekend for example should be fun and quite interesting. πŸ˜‰

Amelia and I have decided that we're going to end our season by just doing the remaining rounds of the Darley Moor championship for a number of reasons. We may have to amend that if needs be, but hopefully not.

If you're going to Darley this Sunday come and find us in the paddock and say hello. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Lets go racing! 😁🏁🏁
