There are only a few tee times remaining for the Texas Scramble this Saturday (27th) that is generously kindly sponsored by JRW Hogg & Thorburn.

It is open to members and players or teams from other clubs and is only £40 for a team of 4 - mixed combinations are welcome.

We mentioned recently that we have a full schedule over the coming weeks. This Saturday (20th June) is one of the big events in the busy schedule and a very big day for the Captain - It’s the Captain’s Prize Day.

The Course is fully booked and Clubhouse turned over to the gents, all day.

Festivities start in the morning preceded by usual Breakfast Rolls, Bobby Burgers at lunchtime and in the evening a buffet. Beer is optional.

If you haven’t already put your name down to play, registration is by the Booking Sheet in the gent’s locker room. Food must be pre-booked by Wednesday 17th to avoid shortages.

Scrogg, The Gent’s Captain is sponsoring the day with the only costs on the day being the breakfast rolls and burgers, and £10 to cover the buffet, plus an optional £5 sweep for 2s etc. Please pay Bobby cash for your food order.

The Bar is open 11am until the end of the evening (11pm latest).

As always, the Captain’s Prize Day promises to involve a lot of fun and lots of prizes - pretty much every hole has something!

The Ladies Captain has her day later in the season and we’ll let you know more about that nearer the time.

Last weekend St Boswells took a team plus supporters to play in the 3rd annual match against three other clubs that were also founded in 1899 – the prize being the ‘125 Quaich’ and lots of very good-humoured bragging rights.

Thank you to Prestwick St Cuthbert Golf Club who were excellent hosts and it was great to see Tillicoultry Golf Club and Cruden Bay Golf Club again.

We have a full schedule over the next few weeks, but more of that in Posts that are to follow soon.

For now, the headlines belong to our Junior Golf Sixes Team.

For those of you who don’t know, The Golf Sixes League is a Scottish Golf initiative to introduce juniors to competitive golf and is played on a regional basis throughout the golf season. It’s six teams of six players aged 6 to 12 years. Players must have a SG Handicap.

The St Boswells Sixes Team won the Borders League in 2025!

Last week saw the first fixture this year and was a home game for the boys. They came ( a very close) second: Torwoodlee scored 125 points, St Boswells 122, Peebles 111 and Hawick 96.

The weather was kind and it seemed to be a successful event for all concerned.

The Team are rarin' to go and are looking forward to their next match – we’ll keep you posted.

A big thank you is owed to all the volunteers who do so much to support our Junior members: Jim, Margaret, Catherine, Moose, Roddy and Douglas.

Tee times are available in blocks from 8:00 AM and again from 1:00 PM.

£40 per team- mixed combinations are welcome.

Club Shop

We have set up a new facility with Border Embroideries – a Club Shop, where you can buy St Boswells GC branded clothing.

We think this is better and quicker than the previous arrangement where orders were placed through the golf club, all orders were gathered together and had to be collected from the club once all the orders were ready.

Buying direct also opens up the opportunity of buying branded clothing as a gift.

You can order the clothing direct, pay Border Embroideries and arrange delivery to your home or collect from their HQ in Greenlaw.

The range of clothing currently includes polo shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies, there are Ladies & Gents options and most come with Junior sizing too.

Throughout the year the plan is to change what is available and make it more appropriate for the weather! The Beanies were popular last year.

The results for the MKM Sponsored Greensomes are out!

First of all, we would like to say a huge thanks to MKM Building Supplies for their generous sponsorship and excellent prizes; to Speedy for excellent course presentation; to Bobby for his LONG stint in a very hot kitchen and to Cloe at the bar.

We also want to acknowledge the hard work of all the volunteers without whom these events would not be possible.

1st Gavin Hastie & Steven Shiel – Net 64 (BIH)
2nd Mike Gallacher & Mark Renilson – Net 64
3rd Peter and Luke Townsend – Net 65 (BIH)

The Best Scratch score was a tie between the Townsends and Andrew Gillan & Michael Thomson. Because the Townsends had already won a prize of equal value it was awarded to Andrew & Michael.

Closest to the pin on the 2nd, Paul Turner. Closest on 4th Pauline Hogg and the Longest Putt on 8th George Hogg.

Finally, thank you to all the 72 players who turned out and made the day a success – we look forward to seeing you all again in ’27.

Bobby’s Kitchen will be open tomorrow for the Invitational Greensomes sponsored by MKM Building Supplies (Galashiels)

Breakfast rolls will be available for the early starters then a selection of filled rolls, hot dogs, cheeseburgers and more at lunchtime.

The breakfast rolls are particularly popular, so you might want to let Bobby know your order before you set off for the club.

You don’t have to be a competitor to enjoy something from the bar and lunchtime food . Why not come along and support the club?

This isn’t quite the last chance saloon for entries to the MKM Invitational Pairs Greensomes but it’s not far off.

The competition is next Saturday, 30th May and is for mixed pairs, a pair of ladies or a pair of two men.

The maximum handicap for Men is 24 and 36 for Ladies.

This Pairs Greensomes is very generously sponsored by MKM Building Supplies - their generous sponsorship has enabled us to present some great prizes and to keep the entry fee to only £15 per couple.

A few Tee Times are still available: between 8:30 – 10am or 13:00 – 15.00hrs.
