Innis Fly Fishery

Innis Fly Fishery Today Innis Fishery consists of three lakes totalling 15 acres of water, stocked regularly with fully finned, home-grown, rainbows and blues.

Innis Fly Fishery was established in the early 80's by Dave and his father (Clarence 'Butch' Johns) for their personal fly-fishing enjoyment, but soon became a popular venue for friends and visitors and thus became a commercial fishery. Catch & Release and day tickets are available on site. Innis is now an international fly fishing venue after hosting the first ever International Bank Fly Fishing Championships in 2010.

On Sunday 17th May Innis held its second Floating Line match of the Summer with only dries, nymphs and buzzers to be fished. With recent weather conditions changing from low pressure to high the fish became difficult to catch in the hot sunny weather. Six anglers took part catching ten fish in all, giving a rod average of 1.7. Top rod went to Dave Cook, from Newquay, catching 3 fish off 3 pegs for 6 points, with his first fish being landed at 10.14am. Great angling in the conditions.
Second Place went to Alex Bobba, from Exeter, catching his first fish at 9.45am. He caught 2 fish off 2 pegs for 4 points. Closely followed by Mick Gibaud catching 2 fish off 2 pegs giving him 4 points also but t catching his first fish at 10.52am.
We may hold a third match later in the Summer if the conditions become favourable for another floating line competition…watch this space 🎣

On Sunday 19th April Innis held the first of its Summer Floating Line competitions. Anglers could only use dry flies, nymphs and buzzers to international rules. Ten anglers took part from as far away as Barnstable and Exeter. The weather was good with sunshine and some high cloud. The competition started at 9.30am with fish being taken from all over the lake. At lunchtime it was that Carbis lake was fishing well and it was all to play for. A hot pasty and refreshments were supplied as usual before the afternoon session got underway. At 4.15pm when the final ho**er was sounded it was clear that it was going to be very close for the top spot. 44 fish were taken giving a very respectable rod average of 4.4.
Top angler on the day was Alex Bobba, from Exeter, with 12 fish catching on all 6 pegs giving him a grand total of 18 points.
Second place went to Richard Wood, from Barnstable, also catching 12 fish but off 4 pegs giving him 16 points overall.
Third Place went to Newquay angler and Innis bailiff, Stuart Parkin. Stuart caught his first fish at 9.40am, catching 4 fish off 3 pegs giving him 7 points.
