Meet Gemma, one of our inspiring alumni!

During the COVID lockdown, Gemma began her journey with our Gym Instructor & Personal Training courses, leading to a successful career as a self-employed Personal Trainer. 🏋️‍♂️

Wanting to support those with health conditions, she then enrolled in our Exercise Referral course. This hands-on course gave her the opportunity to work with real clients & gain confidence in her abilities. 💪

Thanks to the skills & qualifications gained at Cornwall College St Austell, Gemma is now working as a Physiotherapy Support Worker with the NHS, helping patients recover & improve their lives through exercise.

We’re incredibly proud of Gemma's journey & the impact she's making in the world of healthcare. 🤩

Well done to Emma for passing her exercise referral practical assessment today. Emma has been putting Murray through his paces over the last few weeks with an exercise programme to help him improve his strength and mobility tailored to his specific medical conditions.

If you are a qualified personal trainer and are looking to up skill to become an exercise referral instructor, then we have spaces available in September.

We work in collaboration with Par Track Healthy Living Programme to allow you to put theory into practice with clients like Murray to fully prepare you for industry on completion of the course.

Thank you as always Melissa Wilkes for having our cohort of exercise referral students from Cornwall College at par track. Mel took time to explain her role as the healthy living coordinator and how the whole process of exercise referral happens in industry. These students will soon be working with some of these patients to give them a real life experience to formulate their case studies and assessments to get them ready for industry when they finish the course.

It was an absolute pleasure to have alumni Kelly Bosch from Natural Sports Therapy come and speak to our current cohort of sports massage students.

Kelly explained her journey, from her decision to start the course at Cornwall College through to moving on from the level 3 course to the level 4 and what she has done since.

Kelly has developed a successful business as a sports massage therapist in Cornwall, and also has spent time working abroad in a top facility with elite athletes in Lanzarote. Thank you so much for being an inspiration to our learners and sharing your story

Our new cohort of level 2 gym instructors had one of our alumni’s Katie Hawkins come and speak to them today about how she has established herself as a successful personal trainer and fitness class instructor since completing her fitness courses at Cornwall College. Katie gave the learners some really useful advice on how they can start to build on their own careers from the get go, so they are in the best possible position once they have gained their qualifications in gym instructing, personal training and instructing group circuit training.

Job Opportunities:
We are currently looking for someone to help with our Healthy Lifestyles Project. The role would entail supporting our GP referral clients and teaching a range of fitness classes. If you have qualifications to teach fitness classes we'd love to hear from you. (Approx 10 hours per week) Hours can be flexible.

We are also on the hunt for our next Ground Assistant. This role will involve keeping the site clean and tidy, grass cutting and pitch marking. If you have experience in grounds maintenance please get in touch. (Approx 15 hours per week) Training can be provided.
