World mental health day
Climbing is an amazing sport not just for the body, but for your mind as well!
one of our regular young climbers Joe made this amazing video:
Hey, I'm Joe. Its world mental health day. So I wanted to talk about my experience with climbing. Ive been climbing at Westminster Lodge for a year now. I started in the time I was deep into A Level studies, struggling to keep focus on the important things in life. Climbing served as an outlet for me, combining problem solving with physical movement, developing a skill that I would have otherwise overlooked. By going climbing I met lots of new people who live in my area sharing an interest to bond over. I was coming every day after school for some time, as I found it helped me mentally, having a hobby keeps me grounded and gives me something to look forward to. The people I've met have stayed in my life in an important way. I've introduced other friends to climbing, being a great source of entertainment, that I could recommend to anyone who wants to move their body and test themself.
We at the climbing wall in Westminster Lodge are truly inclusive. We welcome everyone and are there for everyone. If you just want to talk, just want to climb, just want to sit and observe or have detailed coaching on a certain move. We do not judge the size, the age, the state you are in, it is about you and your journey.
