And that's a wrap for our lessons this year! Taking a break from teaching to focus on motherhood has been a big change, but it's been worth it. I'm so proud of my team for keeping the swim school running smoothly while I've been away, it would've been impossible without them.

Worried They Won't Like Swimming Lessons?

A big question parents/guardians ask is: What if my child just doesn't like swimming lessons?

​Often, it's just about giving them time. New environments can feel strange at first, but with fun activities, friendly teachers, and gentle encouragement, most children grow to love it. If it takes a few weeks for smiles to appear - that's okay too. The important thing is giving them the chance to try.

Meet the Team: Adam! 🏊‍♂️

​Adam has been dedicated to the pool environment for years. He started assisting when he was 15 and spent time working as a lifeguard before becoming a fully qualified teacher at age 21.

He has been with the swim school since the start - before I took it over. He has even taught some of our lovely assistants to swim!!!

​Adam's energy and experience make him a wonderful teacher. Adam only works with us on Saturdays but makes a huge impact with the swimmers.

​Say hello to Stuart, who holds both Level 2 Coaching and Teaching qualifications. Stuart has been working with swimmers since he started assisting at the age of 16!

​Why does he love teaching?

​"The best part of teaching is when something finally clicks for a swimmer, and they can then do something that they previously thought was impossible."

​We are so lucky to have Stuart on the team! Our swimmers and parents agree—he's fantastic!

Say hello to Jess, our amazing team member and sister extraordinaire! She started as an assistant and earned her stripes as a swim teacher.

During the week, Jess teaches SEN students at a wonderful local school. On weekends, she focuses on private lessons with us, but she's always up for a helping hand when I'm in a pinch!

Jess loves sharing her passion for swimming to teach a life-saving skill to the community. She loves getting to know the swimmers to help them reach their full potential. She is extremely patient and goes at the learner's pace.

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share the heart behind our school. I promise to try and use social media a bit more (I say it every year but let's try again anyway).

​Hi everyone! I'm Charlotte, and I'm the owner, head instructor, and chief water lover here at Flippers Swim School.

I don't pose for many photos, so here is one from my wedding day. I don't look like this on a normal day but when there is an opportunity to show a wedding photo, I just have to.

I started my teaching journey as an assistant and absolutely loved it. I was very shy and quiet but in the pool I was happy and confident. I got qualified as soon as I could when I turned 16 (I will leave you guessing my actual age). A couple years later, there was an opportunity to run a swim school and I took it.

I love being in the water and teaching children (and adults) to swim. Nothing is more rewarding than watching a nervous child transform into a confident, happy swimmer—or seeing an adult finally master a stroke they've always wanted to learn.

I could be having a stressful day but the moment I am in the water, I forget about what was stressing me out. I even planned for a water birth when I had my daughter as I wanted to be calm - I didn't get my water birth but that is a different story 😂.

I have a beautiful little girl who is 8 months old. She is already sharing my love of the water which I am so happy about. I am currently on leave from actually teaching as I don't have regular childcare yet but I am here behind the scenes doing all the boring admin (I joke, I actually love admin and spreadsheets 😂)
