My Prolapse recovery,
I am writing this a year and a half since I was diagnosed with a Gr 2 pelvic organ prolapse. I am hypermobile so knew my chances were higher and suffered with pelvic problems in both pregnancies. After my second, Noah I took it slow, but knew things were not right. Lifting a washing machine a year post partum – I knew exactly what had happened.
I have been a physio and Pilates instructor for over 15 years but I spiralled – thinking I would never run or lift again. I would like to thank who I rang straight away. She is amazing WH physio and friend. She reassured me and supported me and stopped my downward spiral. Locally, - who helped me realise that I could achieve, move and feel confident again. A message of support from .pilates also made me focus on future goals and stop catastrophizing.
Its been a slow and steady year. Focusing on the foundations, relaxing my pelvic floors and building confidence. And now I am back running! I have got back to 10km – and loving it. My running bud has helped me build from 5-10km – and loving this journey.
Rehab and education post prolapse has changed so much. No activity restriction – just sensible rehab, strengthening and building back to individual goals.
So this is a thank you – to the amazing women health physios and PTs as well as my friends and family on this journey.
