Saddleworth Clarion is a growing cycling club with 100+ members from the Saddleworth villages, Oldham, Tameside, and Kirklees. We welcome riders of all abilities to the club. Our aim is simple - to enjoy the full spectrum of cycling activities in the company of others, from the recreational through to the competitive, both on and off the road. With experienced cyclists and newcomers alike, we share
our interests, knowledge and experience for the benefit of all in the club. As a club we have members riding local Audax events, sportive rides, mountain bike events, cyclo cross and time trials. We run our own Saddleworth Audax in July, the local Saddleworth Mountain Time Trial in May and the Turnpike Challenge charity ride in June. Club rides take place on Saturdays & Sundays meeting at Java Bar in Uppermill for a 9 a.m. There is generally a Saturday social C ride, ideal for those wanting to try out the club and experience the fun and social element of riding with a group. These rides incorporate a ride out to a local café. We also run a monthly beginners ride in conjucntion with the British Cycling "Let's Ride" scheme on the last Saturday of each month. MTB riders meet every Wednesday evening at 7.10pm at the bus turning circle in Uppermill for a 2 hour off road ride. Also some weekend off road rides organised for riders of all abilities and experience. See Events Calendar for more information on all of our rides. Non- members are most welcome to join us for any of our rides. Many who do then ride with us regularly and quickly become a member of the club.
