MARCUS CARVER JOINS SABDEN FOOTBALL CLUB 🔴⚫️

Sabden Football Club are delighted to announce that professional footballer Marcus Carver has joined the miners.

Marcus comes with a vast knowledge of football having had an extensive career, including playing for Accrington Stanley, Southport, Chorley, Hartlepool United and Scunthorpe United. He currently plays for Bradford Park Avenue in the Northern Premier League. As well as playing an active role in the running of the club, Marcus will be assisting and supporting the coaching staff and players throughout the season.

There’ll be someone there at the club from 9am so if you’re free and fancy helping out, please feel free to drop by at any time from then.

Even if you can only stay for a short while, any help is greatly appreciated.

⚽️ Match Report - Sunday 3rd May ⚽️

Peel Park FC 3 - 2 Sabden FC

Manager Aurie De Carteret’s thoughts:
“It’s a devastating way to lose a top half finish, to be ahead twice in the game, but fair play to Peel Park, they have some brilliant players and they did their jobs well. I think that it is more of a reflection of how the season has gone as a whole. We shouldn’t have put ourselves in the position to have to win this game to have a chance of finishing top half and some matches got away from us, we have to do better next season in that sense and really make the most of the matches where we can win, like Forest, we were 2-1 in that game until we got a red card, and lose the game. Belvedere we were 2-0 up, we end the game losing 4-2, and Pendle United, where we created so many goalscoring opportunities, but just couldn’t get the ball in the net and we lose 1-0.

Of course, we will look to work to a successful result in the cup final, and we have what is now a pointless game against Coal Clough in the league still to play. After this, we will assess and see what improvements need to be made over the summer for us to have a better chance of being towards the top end of the table next season”
