We had our end of season awards last night, getting the lads together to finish off our underwhelming season.

Our first award went to captain Alex Neville who took home top goalscorer. With Alex deciding to step away from football with the conclusion of the season, he will definitely be missed. Being one of the original players to get the team started it’s a shame to see him go, but he knows the doors open anytime.

Tyler Wilson then picked up the most player of the match trophy.
As a very talented and consistent player, it definitely shows when he’s unavailable, so it comes to no surprise he has picked this one up.

Next up was Players’ player which came very close between a couple players but went to goalkeeper Danny Smith.

Our fourth award was Managers player which deservedly went to Mr Cornetto himself, Nick Batehup. Nicky will always give a solid performance and he’s another who is consistent week in, week out. He builds morale each week and keeps the team in high spirits. Definitely deserved.

There was then two more awards that went out to a couple of players who have helped out both teams this season.

The first one being the clubman award, which went to Chris Aldous. With him being a 3rd team player he’s been more than helpful helping us out when and where he can and has been a massive contributor to both teams this season.

The second was the chairman award, which was picked up by veteran Jon James. With him being another to play for both teams throughout the season it seemed only right it went to him, with him also announcing his retirement.

With the conclusion of the season we turn our focus on to preseason that will start up in a few weeks time.

We travel to tackleway in our last game of the season tomorrow. We hope to end the season on a high and get the win to cement 3rd place.

Match report!

With our final home game of the season the result felt quite good for more than just that reason.
Not only for it being our last home game but also because we had lost to our opponents twice in the last couple weeks in the cup and league. So beating them yesterday felt really nice.

Our first goal came from the returning Seb who finished off calmly when he was played through 1 on 1 with the keeper. Considering he’d been away from the game recently, his goal and performance didn’t show it.
1-0
It didn’t take long for us to double our lead when Brandon found the back of the net brilliantly finishing past the Mountfield keeper.
2-0
We kept our opponents at bay for the majority of the game but one lapse in concentration gifted them a consolation in the first half.

HT 2-1

The second half seemed to be a bit slower than the first with no clear cut chances for either team. Until the last minute where a slick run found Ollie taken down in the penalty box giving us a chance to seal the game.
Unfortunately we couldn’t convert but it didn’t matter as there was no time left, and the win was ours.

Man of the match went to Brandon this week as he got himself back on the scoresheet, and gave the Mountfield defense a hard time from start to finish.
Well done mate.

We look to next week where we travel to tackleway in our last game of the season.

With our 2nd to last game coming up, we face Mountfield… again.
With our 3rd meeting in just a few weeks we look to get one over them this time out after our extremely disappointing results over the last couple games.
