There’s quite a lot going on down by the river at the moment, so here’s your little BBS + Lime Wharf catch-up…

🌅 We’ve still got spaces on our 2-hour Sunset Cruise at 4.30pm TODAY, and again on 12 September. £22.50pp.

🫖 There are also spaces on Wednesday’s Cruise + Cream Tea. One hour on the river at 3pm followed by homemade cream tea, £20pp.

🌿 Garden Club met yesterday and got loads done. Did I take a single photo of anyone actually gardening? No. I did, however, remember to photograph us sitting down to lunch afterwards 😂 Our lovely volunteers also got to sample some of the dishes from our brand new autumn menu, which launches THIS MONDAY. More on that very soon…

🛶 And we’ve bought some new kayaks! Which means we’ll shortly be selling some of our older stock. We’re not quite ready to let them go yet, but if you’ve ever fancied owning one of our kayaks, start thinking about it now. We’ll post all the details when they’re ready.

September is shaping up rather nicely ☀️🍂

Perfect paddle conditions this morning ☀️🛶

The river was looking beautiful, the water was calm and, of course, no trip to Bodiam Boating Station is complete without breakfast at Lime Wharf before or afterwards.

If you’re wondering what to do this Bank Holiday weekend, this is a pretty good way to spend a few hours. Get out on a kayak, SUP, canoe or rowing boat, then head to the cafe for breakfast or lunch and stay for one of the DJ sets in the garden.

And with the end of summer creeping closer, make the most of these gorgeous paddling days while they’re here.

Boats out all Bank Holiday weekend.
Lime Wharf open from 8.30am.

A little heads up if you’re visiting us tomorrow…

Lime Wharf Cafe’s kitchen will be closing a little earlier than usual at 4.30pm, but everything else is carrying on as normal.

Boats are out as usual until 8pm, and the LWC bar will be open until 8pm too 🍹

So you can still head out on the river, then come back and settle into the garden for a cocktail, cold beer or glass of wine afterwards.

If you’re planning to eat, just make sure you’re back from your paddle in plenty of time to order before the kitchen closes.

Boats as usual until 8pm

One last big summer Bank Holiday by the river?

We’ve got 3 days of music, boats on the water, food, cocktails and plenty of reasons to spend the day with us.

Get out on a kayak, SUP, canoe or rowing boat, stop for lunch at Lime Wharf and then settle into the garden for music and a drink as the afternoon rolls into evening.

Saturday
DJ Ben 5pm to 8pm

Sunday
DJ Ali Rana 5pm to 8pm

Monday

No tickets needed for the music. Just come down and make a day of it.

Boat hire is available throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, with breakfast, lunch and early supper at Lime Wharf and the bar open until 8pm.

And if you’re camping with us, even better. Park the car, pitch the tent and you’ve got the river, cafe, bar and music right on your doorstep.

One last summer adventure?

It’s the final week of the school summer holidays, but there’s still time to squeeze in one more night or two under canvas before September arrives.

We have camping availability this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night.

Pitch the tent, get out on the river, have lunch or an ice cream at Lime Wharf, stay for an early supper and then head back to the campsite as the sun goes down.

No need to save it for the weekend either. Sometimes a spontaneous midweek night away is the best kind.

Camping available Tuesday to Thursday this week.

Head to the Bodiam Boating Station website and submit a booking form.

There is still plenty of time to enjoy summer on the river, just at a slightly slower pace.

Hire Dannie Lee privately for up to 12 people and spend 1 to 3 hours cruising gently along the River Rother with your own captain looking after you.

And it can cost as little as £12.50 per person.

Bring friends or family, pack a picnic and a bottle of something lovely, or book a table at Lime Wharf Cafe for before or afterwards.

Sunset is around 8pm this week and getting a little earlier every day, so now is the time to make the most of those gorgeous summer evenings. Or choose the warmest part of the day, sit back and watch the river go by.

Private hire is £150 for the first hour, then £60 for each additional half hour, for up to 12 people. Your captain is included.

Cruises can be booked for 1 to 3 hours.

Head to the Bodiam Boating Station website for details and to book.

For BBS I’d definitely lead with the river and make the music the perfect end to a day boating or a reason for campers to wander over to LWC.

It’s looking like another dry and warm weekend, so how about a day on the river followed by food, cocktails and music?

Get out on a kayak, SUP, canoe or rowing boat during the day, then head over to Lime Wharf Cafe where we’ve got an extra long LWC Session on Saturday.

And if you’re camping with us this weekend, we’d make Saturday your night for eating at LWC. Leave the cooking gear at the tent, grab a table in the garden and settle in for the evening while our DJs take care of the soundtrack.

Saturday
DJs Ali Rana + Sober Sommelier
4pm to 8pm

Sunday
DJ Dave
1pm to 4pm

Kitchen open until 6.30pm
Bar open until 8pm

Boats, food, cocktails, music and hopefully plenty more sunshine. That’s the weekend sorted.

Well, we’ve finally had a little break in the heatwaves and some actual rain!

Did you go out in it? I took Frida for a walk and we both thoroughly enjoyed getting soaked to the bone.

It’s still lovely and warm though, which means it’s perfect paddling weather, come rain or shine.

Our Friday Paddle and a Pint offer has been so popular that we’ve decided one day a week simply isn’t enough.

So for the rest of August, we’re opening it up every Monday to Friday.

£20 per person gets you 1 hour on a kayak, canoe, SUP or rowing boat, followed by a pint, medium glass of wine or slushy.

Just arrive anytime between 4pm and 6pm.

The kitchen is open until 6.30pm, boats are out until 7pm and the cocktail bar is open until 8pm, so you can stay for something to eat or another drink afterwards too.

Let’s make the most of these last couple of weeks of summer, get the kids out before they go back to school and enjoy the river while it’s still warm, whatever the weather decides to do.

Monday to Friday for the rest of August.

Come rain or shine, we’ll see you on the river!
