Rye Watersports

Rye Watersports Rye Watersports offers windsurfing, sailing, wingfoiling and SUP lessons to adults and children. New Aquapark for 2025! Close to Camber Sands and Rye.

Hire of equipment is available and day sailors with their own kit are welcome to use the lake & cafe. Rye Watersports is based in a beautiful location surrounded by the vast expanse of the Romney Marshes and the sea . Lessons in kitesurfing, windsurfing and sailing are taught on our coastal lake, mid-way between the ancient cinque port of Rye and Camber. The nearby beaches of Camber Sands in East

Sussex, and Greatstone in Kent are where we run our kitesurfing lessons from. Rye Watersports is a recognised BKSA Kitesurfing school and Royal Yachting school for windsurfing and sailing. The Rye Watersports team are very experienced, having taught at centres around world and are always on hand to give friendly tips and advice. Rye Watersports was established in 1986, and became a BKSA kitesurf school in 2003. It is still under the same ownership. A lake with sea breezes is pretty unique and our position so close to the South East Coast means the wind stats here are amazing. The frequent, strong wind that sweeps in over the Kent and Sussex coastline is verified by a wind farm which has recently been constructed on the marshes behind our centre. We’re only one hour from South London so it’s well worth the trip to enjoy the conditions that Rye Watersports has to offer, whether for a lesson, board hire, or just to have a blast on your own windsurfer. Kitesurfing has become an incredibly popular watersport over the past decade; it combines well with windsurfing as you can pick up some real speed in much lighter winds. At Rye Watersports we run kitesurfing lessons for beginners through to more experienced riders. Rye Watersports hosts several events throughout the year such as demo days, clinics and BBQ’s. Everyone is welcome at our centre from complete beginners to experts wanting to practice flat water tricks. Lessons for children and adults are often run on the same day, so all the family can join in. Equipment and wetsuit hire is available on an hourly basis. It’s easy to book a lesson via our online system, but if you’d like to call for a chat first please do.
