Happy National Fitness Day everyone!

Apparently a quarter of the UK's population is inactive, only doing 30 minutes of total activity every week! That's a shocking statistic and one which will have a knock on affect on the nation's health and the NHS.

So make sure you're getting out doing activities you enjoy, get your heart rate up, burn some calories and try and clock up at least 150 minutes of exercise a week. Do it for your mind as well as your body 💪🏻🏃🏻‍♂️

Turn right out of our drive and you get this! A seriously steep, never ending hill. Apparently it's the 87th best cycling hill in England according to Strava......so it's tough!

Because of the hills round here and with work and house commitments I've been doing smaller, manageable runs eg 15 mins out then turn round and come back. Then I know I've got a run in but really know I've done some exercise because of all the flipping hills 😆

If you're struggling to fit in exercise try chopping it in to smaller chunks, 10/20 mins here and there so it makes it easier and more achievable with everyday life! 🏃‍♀️💪🏻

WALKING, WALKING, WALKING!!!

It's the simplest way to get fit! You don't need any gym memberships or fancy gear just a good pair of shoes and off you go.

It burns fat, keeps us toned, prevents and manages various conditions and helps our bones and our minds! Along with a whole host of other benefits.

So make time in your week for regular walks because 75 minutes a week can add 2 years on to your life! 😮👍🏻🚶‍♀️

EATING BEFORE OR AFTER EXERCISE?

Hi everyone.

I've not posted for a while because of house renervating, work etc but I'm going to get back on it now.

I've been trying to find a happy medium for my own exercise so I've been doing short sharp mini runs up hill then back down that take 20 mins a few times a week and this is helping my over all fitness and my moral too.

Although this morning I did a dog walk, some actual work then my mini run then had breakfast! I didn't do it on purpose but research does show that not eating before exercise burns more fat and also helps to reduce calorie intake over the next 24 hours! Winner.

Maybe something to think about if you're aiming to lose a few pounds 💪🏻

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

I hope you're all looking forward to a few fitness challenges in 2022!

After moving house and country last year, I didn't seem to find the time or the energy to push myself or be consistent with my running. So this year I'm going to set time aside to run and challenge myself a little too, especially with these Welsh hills! Being out there and seeing the stunning views makes the tough hill climbs all worthwhile.

What are your fitness goals for 2022? 💪🏻

Happy bank holiday everyone!

I finally made it out for a run from our new front door! The new house is keeping us busy and the thought of the hills nearby was slightly daunting but I did it and how lovely it was.

Trails, woodland, fields. Saw no humans just sheep, horses and a buzzard and the limekilns in the woods.

But oh those hills 😅

First visit to see my folks in a very long time and my trainers went with me.

I thought the hills might have flattened out in Whitby during lockdown.....but no! I did nearly 10k of endless ups and downs and I thought that once I'd got to the 199 steps I would run up them but my legs were shot 😅 I fast walked them instead....honest.

Hills are hard but so so good for your fitness. Great for short, sharp bursts of intense cardio and cracking for all the big leg muscles and your bum. Try hills or steps or both 💪🏻

Running.....one of the best ways to burn lots of calories. All you need are some trainers, a sports bra for most and just get out the door.

I went this morning for the first time in about 6 weeks. The first 10 minutes were tough but I soon got in my stride and I loved being back out there. I know it clears my head and I feel re energised when I get home.

One of my clients Ann, who at nearly 70 has already lost over 7 stone and has recently taken on a couch to 5 k. It's helped her revamp her weight loss and she's gained a huge sense of achievement. She's now at a healthy weight but is still losing a steady 1/2 lb a week.

Why not give it a go. Try walking and running in small chunks or download an app to help you get started 🏃🏼‍♀️🎽
