Hello everyone - as you will know, Bike Town has now closed. It was a fantastic & successful community cycling project for 11 years, which many of you will have benefitted from❤️🚲

This page will no longer be active, but the parent organisation of our charity, Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust, would love to keep in touch with you. They offer lots of amazing health & wellbeing activities in the local CamGlen area❤️

They are also delighted to continue Guided Cycle Rides every Tuesday, 10am-12pm, meeting at The Bothy in Cuningar Loop, Rutherglen (12.45-2.45pm on the first Tuesday of each month).

Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust's Executive Director Brendan Rooney has released the following statement:

“In response to tough funding cuts within the charity sector, as well as a drop-off in national bike sales, sadly we have been left with no option but to close Bike Town, our community cycling hub.

“Regrettably, we have determined that redundancies are necessary to ensure the long-term viability and success of the wider charity. Making this difficult decision will ensure that Healthy n Happy will continue to offer a range of vital and purposeful activities for all in Cambuslang and Rutherglen.

"The wellbeing of the affected staff, volunteers, participants and customers is our main priority. We understand the impact that closure and redundancies will have and we are committed to helping them through this process.

“We know that the closure of Bike Town will be a loss to the local community and we sincerely thank everyone for their support over the last 11 years. Bike Town will be open for business and will continue offering cycling activities until 31 March 2025”

We are proudly backing Circular Communities Scotland’s campaign which helps raise awareness about sharing and repairing as alternative options to buying new.

Through selling high-quality but low-cost refurbished bikes sourced from donations, we are able to divert tonnes of waste from landfills, while making cycling more accessible to all, regardless of budget.

Along with our bike refurbishment program we have been supporting the Share and Repair movement in CamGlen for over a decade with community-focused repair projects such as Dr. Bike, Fix Your Own Bike and our Bike Maintenance Classes.

Every Saturday at Bike Town we offer FREE maintenance classes at 1130 and FREE Fix Your Own Bike slots from 1330.

If you want to learn to fix, book a place on our Maintenance class. If you have the skills, but lack the tools and the space, then FYOB is for you!
