INTRODUCING…..
The Junior Units Combine!
Our new Triannual event will be held in both mid-week S&C Classes next week (24th and 26th), giving our young athletes a repeatable test of their athletic abilities. Scores will be recorded, written on our new Junior Units Combine Whiteboard, and tested x3 times a year.
THE MOVEMENTS:
▪️Standing Broad Jump- Displaying an athlete’s ability to exert force quickly, the standing broad jump is a great demonstration of lower body power
▪️OH Medball Throw- Another expression of power, the OH throw also relies on the body’s ability to coordinate and sequence multiple actions of multiple body parts into one fast and forceful action
▪️1RM Bench Press- A classic test for overall pressing strength
▪️Max Rig Hang / Chin Up Hold- A good challenge for grip and upper body strength, as well as mental fortitude
▪️Max Sled Length- Tests an athlete’s ability to exert large forces against an external object, challenging lower body strength
▪️2 min Shuttle Test- A fast paced endurance trial that also tests an athlete’s ability to push themselves when uncomfortable
