That was our first mistake. 😂
Because when you add up the Hobby Horse campaign PLUS the other JustGiving pages we know about…

AND THEN…

WHICH MEANS THESE COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS HORSES HAVE ALREADY GENERATED…
🔥🔥 £2,221.25 FOR AIM HIGH! 🔥🔥
TWO THOUSAND.
TWO HUNDRED.
AND TWENTY-ONE POUNDS.
AND TWENTY-FIVE PENCE.
For running around Higham Ferrers with horses on sticks.

Suddenly this isn’t quite so silly, is it?

ALL Hobby Horse collection buckets will be collected over THIS COMING WEEKEND.
Which means we genuinely have no idea where this total is going to finish.

We haven’t officially set a target.

And £2,221.25 is SERIOUS money for Aim High.
To put that into perspective…
💧 WATER – 17p A BOTTLE
£2,221.25 is the equivalent of more than THIRTEEN THOUSAND bottles of water.
13,000+ BOTTLES!
Obviously we do not need 13,000 bottles lined up behind The Green Dragon before someone gets excited. 😂
But it shows just how far lots of tiny donations can go.
🎡 THE FREE FAIRGROUND RIDES
Our fairground rides cost THOUSANDS of pounds.
The Hobby Horse fundraising so far could already cover a really substantial chunk of that bill.
That means children getting on those rides without Mum, Dad or carers having to reach into their pockets.
🎨 FREE FACE PAINTING
Your fundraising helps us cover the people, materials and supplies needed to offer things like face painting without charging families.
✨ FREE GLITTER TATTOOS
Same again.
Those little activities cost us money to provide, but they mean another child gets to say YES rather than a parent having to say:
“Sorry, we can’t afford that today.”
💚 THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF AIM HIGH.
We want families to be able to come through the gates and enjoy themselves regardless of what is sitting in their bank account.
FREE ENTRY.
FREE FAIRGROUND RIDES.
FREE ACTIVITIES.
FREE FACE PAINTING.
FREE GLITTER TATTOOS.
ENTERTAINMENT.
INCLUSION.
COMMUNITY.
A proper day out where money doesn’t have to be the thing that decides whether your child joins in.
But free for the families does NOT mean free for Ailsa’s Aim.
We still have to pay the bills.
And suddenly these daft little horses are paying a pretty impressive chunk of them. 💚
THAT is why every £1 matters.
17p = a bottle of water.
£1 = nearly six bottles.
£5 = nearly thirty bottles.
£10 = another little piece of a festival activity paid for.
£50 = another chunk taken off one of those enormous invoices sitting on Sara’s desk making her eye twitch. 😂
And when dozens and dozens of people all give £5, £10 or £20…
YOU GET £2,221.25.
That’s the magic.
💚 AND THERE IS AN EVEN MORE SERIOUS SIDE TO THIS.
Aim High exists because of Ailsa’s Aim.
We support people affected by cancer and families with babies receiving neonatal care.
We provide practical care packs, RADAR keys, worry monsters, respite and support to people going through some of the hardest days of their lives.
If the festival fundraising exceeds what we need to cover Aim High, that money doesn’t disappear.
It goes back into the work of Ailsa’s Aim and helps us support more people and families. 💚
So yes…
We are taking the mickey.
We are publicly shaming people on £0.
We have a wooden spoon.
We have horses called Spudgun, Snowstorm, Pony Baloney, Rurple Reign, Hornycorn, 50 Shades of Neigh and Kn*b Jockey.
We have grown adults genuinely discussing TRAINING.
And there is an aggressively no-expense-spared trophy.
