We've had a fantastic 2 weeks delivering our Summer HAF Programmes in partnership with Walsall Council and Apt For You CIC
The young people were amazing, they worked hard, played hard, laughed hard and we had some really insightful conversations with them.
We taught football skills, played matches, delivered a coaching qualification and even had a couple try out their skills as coaches by delivering their own sessions. Our young people learnt about the importance of evaluation, not only in football but in their daily lives, and learned about the qualities needed to become coaches and leaders. They got to play some basketball and dodgeball, card games and board games. We taught them about healthy eating and nutrition and they were able to experiment with ingredients to develop their own 'power food' smoothies. We introduced them to the idea of Enterprise and looked at the skills and attributes that they already possess, and thought about their areas for improvement. We came up with ideas and the young people created their own products that were gifted but could also be produced and sold as part of a business. Me and my amazing team learned a lot through some deep conversations with the young people and will be using what we've learned from them to influence our next offering.
So grateful to Walsall Council for allowing us the opportunity to be involved in such an important and worthwhile initiative... roll on Christmas HAF
