Loss 18-20

First match after a bank holiday break, and a really well matched game actually, when we were down our usual GA, and some players were fresh back from injury, so we didn’t expect it to be so close. We won the second quarter but it wasn’t quite enough to take the lead and they kept us 2 behind the whole way.

Put in a shift for this game, cracked on in mid court, and pitched herself in the D to take up the space, she always leaves her mark. Well done 👏🏻👏🏻

Laura - GS
Had to adjust her game, playing alongside a different GA, and I think she linked up really well, created some good passing options and always took her shot. Confidence definitely growing 👏🏻👏🏻

We all gave it 100% and everyone played their best, we had fun, and enjoyed it, and that’s the main thing.

Loss 12-21

A game we knew we were gonna struggle with, not only because it was against very strong opposition but also because we didn’t have any defenders. The team were great in taking it in turns to play in defence as we rotated positions. Our opponents took an early lead in the first quarter and stayed there, so it wasn’t a close game, which meant we could actually focus on players trying out different positions to see who likes playing where, without any pressure, and despite a few tumbles, we all enjoyed it.

Jumped into playing in the D which is not her preferred position, totally adaptable on the court and can play any position, which is greatly appreciated by the team, she smashes it wherever she plays, well deserved 👏🏻👏🏻

Vicky - WD
Played her first match for us and her first match in a really long time. She stepped outside her comfort zone, playing with ladies she hasn’t played with before and she did amazing. She supported those back line and circle edge passes and had great space on the court. Well done hun, great first match 👏🏻👏🏻

Lovely opposition, as always we enjoy playing against this club, a well deserved win, with your form on fire. 🔥

Thank you for all the support you show us, whether that’s coaches giving us advice, umpires giving us tips, or opponents giving us hand shakes, and spectators giving us high fives.
To all our online supporters we love seeing your likes and hearts on our posts, along with your words of encouragement, it really means a lot.
Keep sharing our posts with your friends and hopefully we can motivate more women, what ever their age or ability, to get back to playing netball.
It’s honestly the best thing we all did.

Loss 22-23

What an incredibly close, exciting match against a lovely team of talented young players.
The match was end-to-end, they would edge ahead, then we’d fight back, we even took the lead ourselves right near the end. It really could have gone either way, but they just managed to pip us at the final whistle — and fully deserved the win.
What stood out most today, was the fantastic spirit shown by both teams. It was a friendly and enjoyable match, with genuine care and support shown whenever players got injured, and there was plenty of applause from both sides after some excellent shooting. Regardless of the result, the game was played in a positive and respectful way.
There were some really positive improvements in our own play. We looked far more controlled in possession, slowing the game down when needed and that composure made a huge difference and was fantastic to see.
One of the biggest strengths of this team is its versatility. Players were happy to swap positions, cover where needed, and support each other without hesitation. That willingness to adapt and work together is what makes a solid team. Hazel particularly shone today playing WD for the first time, we were so grateful to have her supporting us in defence. Lucy did a great job playing C for a stint, and it was so good to hear Lyndsey being so vocal in directing the team, well done ladies.

A consistently reliable shooter, who is able to change games, even under pressure, she fought tirelessly today and absolutely smashed it, incredible, well done 👏🏻 👏🏻

A huge thank you to Kate who stepped in at the last minute to help us out — she slotted into the squad seamlessly and played brilliantly, a true team player who offered to play where ever she was needed, would have been lost without you. 🥰.
So, congratulations to our opponents on a very well-earned win — and a massive well done to Valkyries for sticking together, supporting one another, and showing fantastic teamwork and sportsmanship from start to finish.
