Duplicate posting on here in case any domino players haven't yet accepted/haven't received an invite to the new page.

As our recommencement is imminent a reminder.
Please could I ask Captains/weekly draw collectors to let me know after their first match if there are any changes re additions/deletions from numbers already allocated. If you have any new team members from a team that has dropped out & they had a number already please could you ask them if they would like to retain it. Thank you.

As of tonight, I have decided to resign from the league committee, due to differences in opinion on people's welfare, I wish you all well and good luck for the future, however you decide to go forward, Jerry 👋

I understand many of you are wondering where we are regarding a restart, I now believe there are further considerations and discussion needed, a meeting of the committee is needed, I suggest 17/11 as I am not available till then, this needs to be a correctly organised meeting not a shouting match, we as a domino league are a small community, and need the support of all our members, the majority of which are in the over 50s and vulnerable group, some members are ready and eager, others are still very reluctant and want to hold off until after winter, some need to try and strengthen their teams, but that is very difficult in this climate, as a league we have sadly lost quite a number during this enforced break, some have passed away, some from Ill health, and some don't wish to play anymore for their own reasons, all in all I would estimate in excess of 30% of the league either are unable or unwilling to restart at this time, the question then turns to funding, the money currently held by the league belongs to all the league not part, also consider if you restart now without the teams that are not ready, they will be excluded until whatever comps you put in place are completed, probably in the region of 8 months or so, allowing for 5 bank holiday weeks, I understand this is not what some want to hear, but harsh reality, if anyone has any proposals or points they want raising can they please write them down and pop them in an envelope addressed to the committee, and drop off at the Clarry before Wednesday 17/11, thanks everyone stay safe and well

Over the next few weeks while we get organised, if there are teams looking for friendlies, may I suggest putting it on our FB page asking who's interested in playing

17/10/2021

After a meeting held last Wednesday, the question is being asked, are we ready to restart in some way and how many teams are interested, I would appreciate if teams could discuss among themselves and feedback, I realise that during the extended break the league has sadly lost a number of members, and also there is still a reluctance by a number of people against being in larger groups, and no-one should feel pressured, please take all this into consideration when assessing your ability to field a team, in the situation where you can't field a team, but there are players who would like to resume, then we can look at strengthening other teams with low numbers, please feel free to comment below, or message me direct, I look forward to hearing from you all.

The funeral of domino stawart Barbara Wadcock of Grapes domino team who sadly passed away a few days ago will take place on 2nd July 11am at Holy Trinity Church. As covid rules still apply anyone who wishes to pay their respects are welcome to do so outside the church. Barbara was a lovely lady who loved her dominoes & won many trophies over the years.
