🏐✨ Magic Runcorn Merlin’s 🪄🧙‍♀️ vs Vale Royal – W 31–15! ✨🏐

The Merlin’s rocked up with a shiny new match ball and ready to work their magic… although at 10pm, the only magic we were hoping for initially was getting into bed! 😴🛌

A slightly sleepy start saw us trailing 5–2 in the first quarter, but fear not, ladies… the Merlin’s were just warming up! 🔥💃

Emma D and Claire E soon found their shooting mojo 🎯, slotting them in with seamless precision despite some seriously tall and close defenders! 🏀🙌

Meanwhile, Amanda and Claire N were absolute terrors in defence, getting tips left, right and centre to turn the tide firmly in our favour! 🛡️💥

Julie ran tirelessly up and down supporting the flow of play up the court 🚀, while Emma W and Rosie delivered feeds with the finesse and precision of Michelin-starred waitresses 🍽️👌, serving up absolute perfection to our solid shooters!

Vale Royal tried their best to keep up, even bringing along an elegant, leggy new GA… but ladies, they simply couldn’t catch us! 🏃‍♀️💨 Not even close! By the final whistle, it was a convincing 31–15 victory for your Runcorn Merlins! 🏆💜

And because a normal team photo just wouldn’t cut it, we finished the evening with a gymnastics-inspired group pose 🤸‍♀️📸 — athleticism, elegance and questionable flexibility all in one! Plenty more of this to come 🌟

Claire N rightfully picking up the title of POM with her far-reaching limbs stopping their attacking flow 👏

🖤 Thursday Night Black Swans 🖤

🏆 WIN | 25–24 🏆

What a great win in our first match of the winter season against a side recently relegated from the Prem! 💪🏻

We stayed calm and composed throughout, with both D’s working incredibly hard to keep us in control of the game. A fantastic team effort and a well-deserved win! 🖤🙌

🏐 Player of the Match ❤️👏🙌
🌟 Leona 🌟

Two weeks on the bounce and thoroughly deserved! 👏🏻 Playing against a tough defender, Leona still managed to make it look effortless. An outstanding performance! ❤️🔥

Robins 🆚 Absolutely Nobody

A dominant performance from Robins tonight, securing a convincing scratch win without even having to step on court. 😂

No missed passes.
No footwork calls.
No questionable umpiring decisions
No injuries.
And, most importantly, no running whatsoever.

With the points safely in the bag thanks to the bye, Robins turned their attention to the real fixture of the evening… Pesto. 🍝🍕🍷

Not all of Robins could make it tonight (we missed you all) but those who could headed out for tea and to officially welcome our new additions Lisa and Charlotte to the squad. ❤️🖤

We’re also welcoming Claire to Robins! She couldn’t make it tonight, but we’ll save her proper initiation for next time. 😂

A cracking night, the easiest points we’ll get all season and three new additions to the Robins family.

Player of the Match: Pesto
Captain’s Player: Whoever ordered the most food
Final Score: Robins 1 – Netball 0 😂

Welcome to the madness, Lisa, Charlotte & Claire! 🏐❤️

🦢 SWANS MATCH REPORT 🦢

🏆 WIN – 35–29! 🏆

Fingers crossed this is the first win of many! ❤️

My first game as captain and I honestly couldn’t be prouder! 🥹🦢

Calm, collected & graceful in true Swan style! We stayed consistent, looked after our centre passes and chased down every lost ball, building an early lead that we worked hard to maintain throughout the game.

Our defence pulled off some brilliant turnovers and never gave up against some strong shooters. The centre court kept things clever and composed, with careful passing to keep the ball flowing, while shooting was consistent in every quarter. 🎯

A real team effort, with everyone stepping up, playing their part and working together to get the result! 💪🏼

🌟 PLAYER OF THE MATCH – Nat (GS) 🌟

Incredible, consistent shooting from all over the D against a strong and persistent GK! Finding space in the smallest of gaps and making it look easy. Absolutely deserved! 👏🏼🔥

💫 CAPTAIN’S PLAYER OF THE MATCH – JJ 💫

What a pleasure to have you back like you’ve never been away!❤️ Always an option, creating space and keeping the ball flowing beautifully throughout the court. I’m sure the whole team will agree — it’s so good to have you back!

❤️ SPECIAL MENTION – Sarah-Lou ❤️

Thank you for helping us out! It was lovely having you with us, and we really appreciated it! 🫶🏼

So proud of this team, the effort, the teamwork and the way we played together. A brilliant start, a well-deserved win and hopefully the first of MANY! 🦢🏆

💙Bluebirds match report 💙

Loss 42-14 🫣
Tough night for the girls in blue...but team spirit is always there and we kept fighting throughout 💪🏻After a really good start, the opposition just came out the blocks and turned it up a gear and we just couldn't match them in the end. 🥹

POTM - Marie 🥳 Massive thank you to Maria with her awesome long bombs into the shooters, she really helped in defence tonight too! 🫶🏻

Rach's player - Lyndsey 🙌🏻 Worked so hard in centre tonight against really nippy opposition, kept trying to find space and tried to keep possession for us the whole game! Well played 👏🏻👏🏻

And a big thank you to Nic and Julie for also helping tonight the BlueRaven mixup was a lovely combination! 😂💙🐦‍⬛

Win 🏆 34 -20

A slow start to the game with some wild passes but we were always in control of the game. In true Owls fashion, the game moved at a brisk tempo—at times we found ourselves crowded together, which made it challenging to pass the ball with fluidity. However, we consistently discovered ways to get the ball into the net! Our defence applied relentless pressure and positioned themselves strategically, either capitalizing on their team's errors or cutting off their passing to intercept the ball. Well done team.

⭐️player of the match ⭐️ Kate Carty

Kate delivered an absolutely outstanding shooting performance—the finest display I've witnessed from her in a few months. She radiated confidence throughout, playing with remarkable composure and a clear understanding of her capabilities. Well deserved.

🍾 captains player 🍾 Natalie
Natalie absolutely crushed it tonight with her spider-like arms and lightning-quick reactions. Her interceptions looked effortless Plus, she was all ears when our goalkeeper Rhi was calling out instructions from the back—her ability to shift direction based on those calls was seriously impressive.

Well done team owls 🦉 x

Monday Magpies 🪶
Words by VC Amy
Loss 26–34

A brand‑new league and a fresh start for the Magpies, with two new faces joining us, Becca and Grace. While a few of our regulars were out poorly 😭 it meant a couple of switch‑ups across the court.

We opened strongly:
Q1 7–7
Q2 18–12
Q3 20–25
But once our opposition settled into their rhythm, they managed to pull ahead and build a tough lead.

POTM – Becca (C, WA)
Stunning feeds, constant drive for the ball, and an all‑round brilliant performance. She brought real steadiness to our play and kept the momentum flowing.

VCPOTM – Grace (GS)
Made her presence known from the first centre pass. Fantastic shooting, great follow‑through, and claiming her own rebounds. Gorgeous play, even earned a few compliments from the opposition’s GS 😍

Huge thanks to Carli for stepping in and absolutely smashing it in the D, supporting right up to the line and making a huge difference in our attacking transitions. And to Kay, who delivered some excellent interceptions that led to crucial turnovers, a massive impact on the game.

I’m genuinely excited to see what the Winter League brings once we’re all back in our usual positions and can properly gel. And honestly, very happy with that score considering last time was 28–8. Onwards and upwards, Magpies 🥳
