Loss - scratch 20-0

It was a 10pm derby night against the lovely Merlin’s, and despite it being 10pm and a scratch match there was lots of fun, laughter and plenty of whistles (you know who are 👀 )

Player of the match- Kylie 👸🏼
Absolutely brilliant in GA tonight, both mid court and in the D and sinking the shots the girl was on fire 🔥

CPOTM - Rach👸🏼
Despite an injury she stepped up when the team needed her and after a shimmy of position she absolutely bossed GK. intercepts, sticking to her player she nailed it 🤩

Special mention to Suz and Jen for helping and for Milly stepping in to support us and absolutely smashing her first match not only with us but in the prem, she was awesome 🙌🏻

Jen constantly been told that Marie is always on the line and to run after her despite Jen playing with lead legs after hours of netball 🤣
And just hearing the laughter in court from everyone, fun times just as it should be. Thanks Merlin’s for hanging out with us at 10pm on a school night, next derby I say we all go the pub 🍻

Clare - She did a grand job of receiving some powerful passes on the base line tonight. Ran her socks off but somehow switched pace and calmly made her entry into the D.
passing back out until she was comfortably positioned to sink them shots.

A great derby game against our club mates Falcons who played way better than the score suggests. They did not give up and kept up the pressure throughout. Great teamwork from both teams which is something that makes RNC so great.

What a fantastic match tonight! 💙

We brought exactly what we talked about before the game – passion, speed, determination and fight from the very first whistle! 💪🔥
We worked hard for each other, moved the ball well, stayed positive and never gave up.
And... WE WON THE FIRST QUARTER! 🎉👏
Considering this was against the team sitting top of the league, that's a huge achievement and something we should all be proud of.

Excellent work rate from everyone tonight under the hot and sweaty conditions 🥵 our 2nd Q in particular was a stormer, scoring 12 goals which secured us a decent lead. We spoke about some defensive work from the attacking midcourt and it really helped us, so well done to those players tonight 👏🏼👏🏼

Runcorn Woodpeckers 19 – 26 Fireflies

A tough game for the Woodpeckers against a really fast and agile Fireflies side, with Fireflies taking the win 28-19. Despite the result, the team kept battling and showed plenty of determination throughout.

🌟 Player of the Match: Kesh for a fantastic performance at GS, shooting confidently and keeping us in the game.

👏 Captain's/Coach's Player: Ash for an outstanding display at both GA and GD, showing great versatility, work rate and commitment.

Loss 19 - 32

A match that was more end to end than the score would suggest. It was close in the beginning with just two turn overs in the first quarter, but it got away from us as the game went on.

The last quarter we turned our focus to making the most of the opportunity to practice as a team, ensuring we held the ball longer before passing, which gave players time to make their move. This is when players really shone, they were calm, controlled, they covered the court and kept possession. Very proud of them.

Always grateful to receive the recognition, the opposing shooters were both tall and skilled, so defence was a team effort with the support from GDs, Sarah, Molly and Laura. 🙏

Such a versatile player, amazing shooting as GA, always covers the mid court effortlessly, and made some unbelievable interceptions as GD, very well deserved.

We started strong, but ultimately were up against a strong and organised team, but we can definitely see the improvements.
