The whole of Runcorn Sports is devastated to learn of the passing of Sarah Geoghegan.

A cherished member of our women’s team. Sarah was the light in every room. Always at the heart of anything positive with her infectious humour and effortless wit. She had a rare gift for lifting everyone’s spirits, no matter the moment.

We’ve never known someone who drew so much love and admiration as Sarah. The outpouring of grief from her former teammates speaks volumes. She was truly one of a kind and she is forever one of us.

Sarah’s presence in the team went far beyond football. Her character, her energy, her warmth. These made her the soul of Runcorn Sports. If you needed a laugh, a lift, or just someone to be there. Sarah never let you down.

Runcorn Sports without Sarah simply isn’t the same. She was a friend to everyone and an enemy to none. We loved her for who she was. Bright, kind and unforgettable.

For Sarah, football was never just about the game. It was about people, connection and joy.

Our thoughts are with Sarah’s family, friends and all her loved ones; many of whom stood alongside her as teammates. We are holding you all in our hearts during this incredibly difficult time.

Everyone loved her. And everyone always will.

We will never forget you, or the crazy goal you scored against us!

Rest easy Sarah. You’ll always be part of us. We love you!

Our pre-season open sessions begin this Wednesday as we prepare for the 24/25 season!

Runcorn sports women would like to thank Jack Slater for the crucial role he played this season as our Manager. Not an easy task either over the past 12 months, as this team has gone through an awful lot both on and off the pitch- situations that would break most teams but Jack was vital in the bond keeping it all together.

The team would like to thank Jack for his continued support throughout the year with each member of our squad. Jack’s passion for the game and team morale is always evident in his many many long, long, long conversations on and off the pitch- but mainly at the club 😜

It was very clear to us all that you hold a special place for us, after your emotions ran crazy at presentation evening. A few tears were shed that night 😭

Jack’s man management is second to none and he goes above and beyond to make each player feel valued.

We would all like to wish Jack the very best as he takes on a new role.

Hannah retains the award from last year and clearly has the respect from her peers. Her quality speaks for herself as she consistently gives us a rock to which we base our performances on and this year is no different. Hannah consistently delivers and has been outstanding again this season.

💙MANAGERS PLAYER OF THE YEAR- Claudia Hutton💙

A thoroughly deserving winner of this award this year. Her impact on the team speaks for itself- she is vital to who we are. Especially towards the back end of the year, Claudia’s performance was unplayable at times and she has adapted to a new style of play to devastating effect.

Well done to Claudia on a well deserved award and a positive season!

🏆YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR- Abbie McDonnell🏆

The improvement and performances of this girl this year have been there for everyone to see. Her first year in open age football and she was certainly right in the running for player of the year too. Abbie receives votes for player of the match every week and abbie really takes on board all of the feedback that we give. I look forward to seeing abbies continued progression next year and beyond!

⚽️23/24 TOP GOALSCORER- Claudia Hutton⚽️

Goals change games and we are extremely fortunate to have a player in Claudia who contributes to our tally so consistently year on year. It really is vital to us and even more impressive when you consider this is the third time she has won the award and she plays in midfield.

Another brilliant season for her in front of goal and to be in with a shout of winning the whole competitions tally with one game left speaks volumes for her achievements this year!
